A poor man's oil funnel - pic

I'm sure some of you geezers know this trick but I had to share it for those virgins. Found this pic in my archieves showing the usage of a retired water bottle. Just chop off the bottom, dry it out thoroughly and stick the neck into the valve cover grommet. I use this on both Red and Shag. The nice thing you don't have to clean the funnel when you get done. Just throw the pup away.

Yeah, and make sure you never screw up your manicure by wearing latex gloves.

Here's another tidbit... if you should hold the container such that the opening is on your palm side, (high side) when tipped... It will virtually eliminates the gurgling affect as it lets the air into the container without impeding the flow of the oil being poured out.

funny... I noticed that too after I posted... Then again, how often do we actually read directions before we actually put something together.

I've gotten really good at pouring oil into my SHO without the use of a funnel. The fill hole is several inches down from where I can begin pouring. I have to make sure to allow for the bending of the oil stream as it comes out of the bottle. I usually only have a little bit of oil miss the hole and drip down to the exhaust manifold.

Actually, I use the same trick with the Mustang, but I can get the bottle much closer to the filler. I'll change my ways when I have a nice engine compartment.

I like the idea, though. You can even cut the bottle with scissors, since water bottles nowadays are so thin and flimsy.

New....matches the car, old....matches the engine.....this is all to hide the spills and leaks.
