:soapboxrant
I do not see myself working at this place for very long. Yesterday was another incident (two actually) to add to the this place really peeves me list.
Besides the manager hiring her daughter to work there (which is fine, I get it.. what mom wouldn't try to help their kid out but still screwed up taking my hours away) yesterday I get talked to because we (daughter and I) were both standing at the front desk. It's not allowed. :wtf Sure were were standing, ok I was standing, her daughter was just sitting there, but the computer was messing up and daughter didn't know how to fix it, and this PC did this stuff before a couple times since I've worked there so I was trying to help her/show her how to unfark the system. We needed the PC up and running so we could check clients out (we had 2 who could have been done any minute and needed their bill). Maybe I've over reacting but seems little unfair that mom didn't say anything to her kid. Just me. Why not also tell her kid? I said sorry, I didn't realize that was an issue, that she and I were trying to fix the PC and since it happened to me a couple times before, I was trying to help her incase it happened again when only she was there. Excuse me for trying to help your kid do/learn something job related. Won't do that again. :no Then manager was all cranky and was like no one told me the PC wasn't working. I was like oh, well I'm sorry (why I'm apologizing I don't know) but anyway I told her I thought she did because I told her daughter that the office PC needed rebooted and she walked back there and I thought she went to go tell mom to reboot her PC. Guess she didn't.
Since we did have two clients in each room, it's customary to hang out at the front. The Dr might come out and ask for something, or ask for help inside the room. A client might walk in needing to pick up meds or something. Someone might call. It was said in the beginning to not ignore clients. If someone had called, one of us is there to answer phone and the other to check a client in/out or help the Dr. Basically not let a client wait. So had one of us been in the back and one at the front desk.. I'm sure I would have been to told I needed to be up front just incase. And not like there was anything else that needed to be done. With 3 people working (me, the new girl and the other guy) and at least 2 of us working during the same time... well there isn't shit to do. Laundry is always going. Things are cleaned. Stuff stocked. Animals have dry cages. I mean seriously, you can only clean/stock/etc things so many times a day before it becomes pointless. Believe it or not lady, with 3 staff members working ...and not a very busy schedule filled with appts... we're going to run out of things to do. Hell, with only me and the guy working we ran out of things to clean/stock/etc. So yeah if you add another person, of course there's going to be less shit to do. Daughter does actually do some stuff. Not as much and me and the other guy, but she does work. Sometimes.
Oh and the other incident. I didn't charge one guy what the manager wanted to charge him. This guy, barely spoke english, brought 3 dogs in to get their rabies vx. Ok do what I've seen the manager do.. multiple pets from same household on same visit. Charge one full office exam fee for one pet and then do the additional pet exam (which is half the price of a full exam) for each of the other pets. Plus the rabies vx for each pet. Obviously that is not what the manager wanted. She said she wanted him to be charged full exam fee for each dog. Um ok. How am I suppose to know wtf she wants and what is 'right' when she changes things for different clients and didn't say anything to either of us. :shrug I'm not a mind reader. We got the PC fixed but it was still being stupid and didn't want to accept the charges we were trying to put in so daughter went and told mama manager and she came up to the front and got it fixed. So if she was that concerned about charging this guy full exam for each dog, then why didn't she mention that when she was at the front desk when we were trying to input his bill? And why does this guy get charged full exam and other people get the additional pet exam? Maybe because he didn't speak much english? Or maybe because he only wanted rabies vx and nothing else and it was a way to get $ from someone who didn't want to spend $120 to get the full set of vax? She really does like to bitch about how cheap clients are and so she will try to get as much as possible out the ones who don't like to spend a lot or don't have the money to spend. Either way... that's F'ed up. You either charge the same for every client or if it's that big a damn deal, get the F off Facebook games, put down your cell phone and stop texting, and put the damn bill in yourself.
In all the clinics I've worked at in the past.. none were as unprofessional as this place.
