Hell Bent for Speed
A buddy here at work (Jamie) inherited a nice Eleanor clone from his good friend that passed away. The car is really nice - the guy spared no expense in it - as he kind of "knew" it would be his legacy in a way.

Anyway, the car was running an electric fuel pump and it kept burning up pumps. Couple that issue with a weird 'miss'ing problem, Jamie decided to swap it to a mechanical fuel pump.

He got everything removed related to the E pump, the new mechanical pump installed and plumbed up, everrthing AN - all looking nice again. Went to start the car and it would not build any fuel pressure... None at all.

Anyone care to reason a guess...

Probably no eccentric on camshaft to drive the pump......

Bingo!

The engine builder apparently left it off when deciding to use the electric fuel pump. He now has to tear the front part down to figure out what timing set he has and to get the right eccentric, etc.

I would have been PISSED!

Well, actually, maybe since it's an E car he won't have to tear down the front of the engine. I've heard from a reputable E Car builder that you can now use a new product to spray into the fuel pump hole and then take a screw driver and shape your own eccentric, while having your wife crank the engine over. I think the product goes by the name...Great Stuff.
