Is a 160 amp too much?

I'm doing some upgrades to the stang since I disposed of the Model A.

Borgeson P/S
All new A/C
Alternator upgrade
electric fans

I've got most of this stuff lined out already.

if you have done the 3g swap I'd appreciate your input as well as where you sourced the parts.

I upgraded the alt in my 91 GT to a 3g 160 amp. I think 160 is standard. . . Or is it 120? Any upgrade from stock is good.

A more econimical route would be to use a Delco 12si, which puts out around 90a, which is plenty. That's what I put in my 66. IIRC, I bought one for a 1989 Buick Riviera. But you have to drill out the mounting hole to take a 7/16" mounting bolt and add a spacer between the alt and the bracket for the adjusting bolt. . .

As always, I pulled the trigger already. Got a brand new 160 amp 3G, pulley, 2 gauge wire with 175 amp fuse, harness and a regulator replacement for under 250 bux.

I bought a 160 amp 4g (explorer) alt for the 65 from RJM. It worked well for the first 6 months. Then it died. Good luck getting a hold of them for warranty repair. I also purchased the rest of the efi components from them. Great quality on the efi stuff, terrible (non-existent) customer service.

I believe the stock amperage of a 3g is 130a. I did the 3g 130a conversion. Everything went fine. Belt squeal is an issue with one v-belt. I have that bastad tight as hell and it still randomly squeals when I start the motor. You link to a dual v-belt pulley, so I assume you'll be using both sheeves and have a crank pulley with an extra same-diameter sheeve?

Nope. Going to A/C and a borgeson kit on it. All three grooves have a claim on them. I read some posts about the squealing being fixed by shimming the alignment a tad.

Guess I'll find out soon enough. I bought the pulley because it was only a buck and i'll have it in case my original does not fit for some reason.

They say anything over 100a you need a 2 groove pulley, serpentine setup or you will be squealing.
