10-10-10 Milestone

So with a milestone date like 10-10-2010 it seems it is fitting that we make a milestone with the Mustang project. For the first time in 4 years it will be outside the garage! Today I hauled it over to the bodyshop where this week it will become a horse of a different color!

I have done the best I can getting it ready for the painter. This week Eric at Autobody Alternative will be taking over and touching up anything that needs a little more work, then give the car it's new identity. Check back next week to see how it turns out.

The '68 coupe doesn't know what to think having the garage all to itself tonight!

Bet that painter won't find much! You have done one heckuva job on that car! Are you going with the Turquoise color?

Looks great... looking forward to seeing more progress... best wishes .... so for now.... :pop

Eric went over a few spots, gave the car a final sanding.. then today shot the sealer and base coat. Tomorrow comes the clear.

Eric is doing a great job, and is a terrific sport to let me hang out and shoot pictures today. He seems a little excited to do something besides bumper covers and door dings for a change. Tomorrow clear, and next week he is shooting the rest of the parts. You guys all know this already, but seeing color is just like being a 5 year old on Christmas morning.

Today 3 coats of clear went on. The first 2 went on like glass. Then shortly after starting the 3rd Eric realized something went a little south. We aren't sure if something was in the clear, air or if we got some dust through the booth, but the cowl and drivers side got some crud in the clear. I'm sure after a cut and buff it will look really good. It was going too good up to that last clear. Eric felt bad, but it happens and I would have most likely wanted to wet sand and buff anyway.

Monday we will see what it looks like in light.

Back home this morning.. next I will take on cutting and buffing out a little crud.

It's been a long road getting to this point. Now I just have to worry about not scratching or denting it!
