What did you buy?

I bought some shiny new pieces for my new tow vehicle. Even though it is a big dually, the addition of airbags will make the towing experience so much better. It was a "while I am at it" type of purchase. I needed the airbags, the compressor and tank are just extra. Of course now I could add a train horn to the new truck. Where could I possible find a train horn?

At least two soon-to-graduate local high school boys can point you to where they got THEIR train horns, I am sure. :)

You already have the horns under your work bench. By the way...how's the Bronco going? Must be finished if you have time to play with your new truck,;)

I was being a bit sarcastic about access to train horns! And if you clicked the picture and looked a bit closer you would see the Bronco pieces strung about the shop.

I don't feel right unless I have at least three vehicles "in progress". OK, yeah, six might a bit much, but anyway...
My neighbor offered me a screaming deal on this fixer-upper boat they have. Wife put her foot down. She said "You don't have time for a boat. You're already overwhelmed. And when are you going to paint my car?" Knocked me right down. I had and still have no comeback for all that.

Nobody actually "left". Powers that be have strict rules about mods or ex-mods bad mouthing staff and forum management. So basically I don't have much positive to say lately and anything otherwise would be wiped as soon as I hit enter. All they have to do is "follow" me to catch that sort of thing. So...I'm choosing not to post there. Kind of soured on ANY commercially owned forum run for profit.
Be all that as it may, the VMF continues to have about the best collection of folks on the net that I've come to know even though many have gone away one way or another. Very active. Nice as Stangfix may be, there's never been a ton of people here. Just a smaller place. Cozy. And I can cuss. (A little) And rules are someone else's problem. I'm good. VMF can get along without me.
I’ve followed you here, you’re not getting off that easy.

I got tired of carrying my "portable" air compressor out to the garage or shed whenever all I needed was to air up a tire, so I decided to get a small, battery-operated tire inflator. Figured I'd see if Ryobi makes one, so I could use the battery from my impact wrench.

Yup, they sure do, and HD has it on sale for 25% off! Run over to my local HD and grab one. Get home, slap on the battery and - Nothing. Put the battery back on the impact. Still nothing. Three days on the charger and more nothing.

So back to HD. They had a kit with a 2AH battery, a 4AH battery, and a super-duper charger for $99. Since the 2AH battery by itself was $89, it was a no-brainer. Now I can air up the tire while I'm removing the lug nuts! :D

The wife forced me to drive to Tennessee last week to get an enclosed car hauler. If you believe that, I've got some swamp land I'll sell you cheap. ;)

We've been wanting to do car shows and other events with the Mustang that are a substantial distance from us. Yes the car could drive the distance, but I'd rather not for a variety of reasons. I've been looking for months to pick up a used enclosed car hauler near me with the left side escape door and removable fender. When I first started looking, one popped up for sale near me at a good price. Unfortunately I was leaving on vacation for a week the next morning and I decided I'd look at it when I got back. Of course it was gone when I got home. I haven't see one since. So I started looking at dealers. No one around me had what I wanted in stock. I could special order one and wait about 2 months for it. The quotes I got ranged from $19,000 (steel framed) to $25,000 (aluminum framed). Way out of my budget.

I kept doing internet searches and found a new aluminum trailer clear out in Tennessee for a price thousands of dollars less than a steel framed trailer locally would cost me. It didn't have any of the fancy options some trailers have (extra interior lighting, finished interior, rubber flooring, etc.) but it was a quality build and had the escape door I wanted. Unfortunately it was a 19hr, 1,300 mile drive away. The wife cleared me to spend the money and said I should get it. She had just had outpatient surgery two days prior and said she wanted to go with me. I couldn't convince her not to go. So we had a fun 4 day roadtrip. Surprisingly everything went smooth and we dodged the tornadoes and major hail storms battering Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Oklahoma during our time on the road. Even with spending money on gas and hotels, we still saved thousands of dollars going to Tennessee. The only crappy thing was we couldn't do any sightseeing as only had 4 days before I had to be back at work. Now we have an enclosed trailer to haul the Mustang to events further away from home.
