Now that Christmas is over I have a bit of time to work on the workshop.

Finished drywall patching and primed and textured the main walls.

Today I started painting the color on. My wife suggested craftsman red to match tool boxes and such. And also the will be coke and classic car themes throughout.

What do you guys think of the color choice? There will be lots of cabinets and some pegboard on the walls as well as base cabinets for storage and tools.

I like it. Looks good with the Black and White floor.

That floor is what made my wife suggest the red. With the cabinets and cabinets in it will time it down a bit. Planning white cabinets and bases with laminate countertops.

I prefer all white in the garage. It's the brightest working environment.

Yeah, yeah....I'm a racist.
It's actually my basement.

This was my original inspiration

I will have cabinets like this on 2 walls for miter saw and drill press and stuff with doors and drawers of course.

Basement, garage, all the same in my book. I'm blind and need it to be as bright as possible. I like the cabs.

I thought you were color-blind; that wall paint is pink, my friend!

Well , I am with Mark on this.
In a basement , most of the walls should be white.
Yep , a bit of color is acceptable but most of all you need light and white walls reflect the most.
Just my opinion.;)

Redneck roof repair this week . Had a leak in my kids room from around the chimney flashing the other evening . Quick fix is a very large tarp over the chimney and ridge line held down with about 15 brake rotors from my scrap pile ! Almost forgot the expanding foam . Probably will replace the chimney with a SolaTube.

Following in C6's redneck fix above, I replaced my ~10yr. old water heater Sunday but forgot to note that the new one was shorter, still 50 gallons but much shorter/fatter. It was after 6pm when I installed so HD had closed so I couldn't get new longer water lines. I had to raise the water heater at least 8" and it had to hold 400+lbs. I looked around my garage and the original spare tire from my '67 was in kicking distance. Problem solved! Hope it meets code:rolleyes:!

If the tire were to deflate it would lower an inch or so until the rim contacts the ground which would hopefully happen before the water lines reached their limit.
This was just a temporary fix until I got the longer lines in. I'll have it back on the ground by the weekend or sooner.

I decided to cover up the eye sore in the corner where our sump pump and well stuff is.

Here is how it looked when we bought the house.

The door is not installed yet. And I'm going to be cutting out the other side for built in display shelves. But it is starting to come together.
