When is a Mustang a 64 1/2?

Okay okay, I know technically they are all 65's but when do "people" consider a 65 to be a 64 1/2?
My newly acquired 65 was built (according to data plate) on August 17th 1964

I found this on the interweb...
Here is the bottom line: Dearborn cars with sequence number below 250000 are '64.5; above 250001 are '65. San Jose cars with sequence number below 125000 are '64.5; about 125001 are '65. Metuchen cars did not begin production until February, 1965.
so mine would be a 65

the one I just bought doesn't have a gen or alt on it, the brackets for whatever it was are gone too.

I know the 64 1/2 had some unique things about the front edge of the hood and headlight area but it's missing those as well.

Yeah, he already has a motor that doesn't run!
yes but there doesn't appear to be any of those rare vent holes in the block or two piece cranks... :hide

Ha ha ha, those rockers were sent with the Midlife Curse!

How about a basic engine question? Is it a 5 bolt or 6 bolt block? Or is the engine code F or D, or C or A?

it's a C code but I haven't looked at the bolt pattern

If it is a C code, it definitely is a 65 and not a 64.5.
