Got to meet Parnelli Jones and signed my plaque. The trans am series was incredible. They drove the crap out of their cars. Allegedly they were stock but surprisingly how much more power the '68 camaro had over everyone. The boss 302 and falcon were second and third fastest. Pics to follow

So I'm back this morning and talked to one of the chairs here. I asked him specifically about the camaro and why was it so much faster than the boss 302 and falcon. The rules are specific as to no mods but they know that they have them on the camaro The boss owner won me over by how hard he was pushing his car in order to keep up. Also there is something pretty damn cool seeing any falcons on the track.

I'd put in the long version but it is not showing up for some reason

Have you ever seen a dog drooling waiting for its dinner? Yeah, that's me right now!! It would be fun to watch and even better to run :beer :yah :pbj

Totally agree. I bought my oldest a truck as it was what she wanted to drive next year for her 16 bday. So I've been working on it all year. Working on a dodge is like baptism by fire Now I'm here smelling the race fuel burning rubber and brakes and seeing all the fun occurring. Best part I was asked to go ice racing next winter in Canada. Still trying to get my mind around that one

Of the tracks Ive vintage raced on, SIR is my favorite. I raced that event in 1992 and it was a BLAST even with all the rain that year. SOVREN is a lot of fun and comprised of mostly millionaires who like to race. They were very welcoming to me and fun to race with.

The '69 Boss 302 is owned my a very good personal friend and fellow Mustanger, Tom Cantrell. His race Boss is a privateer car with racing history from back in the day. He is the kind of guy who would do just about anything to help a friend and Ive known him and his family for 30 years. We talk several times a year and he let me in on a project he is working on that will put him in a different class. he found an old Can-Am race car (read: Boss 494) in Georgia. should be a ripper.

Thanks for posting this event.

Heading for the Monterey Historics or whatever they call them now at Laguna Seca in August. The trans Ams will be there too. Love to see 'em go.
