Last weekend, I noticed two issues with Midlife. (1) Upon a right turn only, the radio would cut out and immediately come back on. I was not losing the preset channels, so it seems either a ground or power problem. I had this problem for about 2 months, but this time, it happened whenever I took a RH turn. (2) When I pulled back into the garage, the engine compartment had water drops all over. I had noticed water spots in previous weeks, and thought it was due to high humidity or water coming up from the road, despite driving in fairly dry conditions.

So...I backed the car out of the garage and fired it up from a cold condition to see where it was leaking. I previously tightened up the overflow coolant lines, as the water spots were more on the driver's side. I decided to let the car run until it got up to operating conditions. Nothing happened until the thermostat opened, and then I saw a drip drip drip from the upper radiator hose at the radiator. Hmmm...turned off engine, tightened the hose clamp, and started things back up. No more leaks. OK...quick fix.

So the next time to drive was today. No radio problems at all, even at the RH turns I was getting used to. And...no water leaks in the engine compartment. Could the two problems be related? The engine continued to run just fine when it was wet previously. I guess I'll have to keep my eye on things.

Easy fixes are nice.

When did you EVER hit a water puddle with that car???????? :eek:mg

The radio cutting out could just be the batteries in your hearing aide failing....... :lol :lol

Coolingwater sprayed all over in the engine bay , by the cooling fan , and soaking the voltage regulator??
Loose wiring around the voltage regulator?
Loose wiring behind the dash ?
Some guesses.

Who worked on your harness?

It could also be the power supply crapping out in the CAS radio...known for their top quality parts!

One day - it's a coincidence.
Two days - it's an anomaly.
Three days - it's suspicious.
Four days - it's very curious.
Five days - it's FIXED!

Check the 2 harness plugs where they go through the firewall below the clamp-weld. I guess the water could affect them also, but they have a habit of not seating very well so the braking connection during turning part could be the harness moving just a bit in a loose connector.

An update:

Last weekend, my battery died with 36 months on a 60 month battery. While the battery was out, I took the opportunity to examine my radio cutting-out problems. I tracked it to the radio power source tied to the foglamp circuit breaker using a ring connector. The nut on the stud simply needed to be tightened.

Ha! I wish all problems were this easy!
