Thanks.
Glad to be here.
I'm a long-time automotive aftermarket manufacturer's rep, currently on industry-imposed
"hiatus" (at least that's thew story I'm sticking to).

I've got 2 one-owner cars (I was at the dealership when the paperwork was signed)-
a '66 GT coupe and a '68 coupe.

Sound like an interesting story.

Please share when you get settled in.

Then this is a first for me.... I've never met the original owner of TWO classic Mustangs. As it is a little odd, please share with us how you managed to hang onto not only one, but both cars for 40+ years!

Yes welcome to the StangFix! We are a happy go lucky group here with very few rules. As our fearless leader stated we would like to hear all about your one owner Mustangs. But we are also a visual bunch too, we would also like to see pics. fd

I've been a "car guy" my entire life. After about 5 years active duty in the Navy, I started working in the aftermarket at JBA in San Diego. After about a year I got an offer to put together a catalog
(mass media degree) for Global West Suspension up in Ontario CA. I spent about 4 years there as
General Manager. The economy slid slightly and I landed at General Motors Corp, working for the
ACDelco division. After dealing with corporate politics for 5 years I jumped ship and went to work
for Douglas Battery in the automotive division. A chance phone call 2 years later found me working
for Akebono Brake Corporation, the largest OE manufacturer in the world. I was there till Nov 2008,
when the economy hit and someone decided that 8 people in US sales was 4 people too many.
It's been an interesting life......

The cars are a seafoam green '68 and a wimbledon white '66. The '68 my folks bought to tow a
19' boat originally and it had base 289 as its only option. I got to drive it every once in awhile in
high school but I was normally stuck with a '71 Pinto. The '68 came from Plainview Ford in New
York, which is defunct and now is a hospital. Currently it's stock body-wise, with an Edelbrock
EFI system, truck SB C-6, Gearvendors overdrive, ACPT carbon fiber driveshaft and 9" rear. The
suspension is Global West and the brakes are Boss 302 Trans Am (front) and 10x2.5 rear drum.

The '66 is a factory GT coupe. It came from Hover Motors in Denver (also defunct). It's pretty
close to stock as far as the body- I've got one of the first sets of Maier fiberglass fenders on
it (no flare) and it's painted in aircraft Imron. Looks stock, all the ornamentation is on it. It's
a custom geared toploader, with a Lincoln Versailles rear. Front brakes are Boss 302 Trans Am.
suspension is all Global West (2nd car they did in the 80's). I used to run this car at open track
events up at Willow Springs and it looks stock, but it's pretty much a sleeper. It's got all kinds
of trick stuff that I did to it in the 80's (roller pedal assy, relay headlight harness, aircraft
landing lights for "fogs," etc). JBA full length headers, 2.5" exhaust over the axle and re-worked
trumpet tips with removable louvers. I stopped counting at $45 grand in 1985......

Lemme go through some jps and see what's suitable.

Welcome aboard, that sounds like some interesting history you have!!

Man, I can't find any jpgs of the GT. I had to scan an old photo from when I lived down in
San Diego......

They're Vintage Wheel Works V48's. (16x8) Got them for free years ago from the owner at that time. Apparently a customer ordered them painted gray and received them ok but said the paint wasn't perfect. I couldn't find any flaws but hey, can't argue with the price :vic
