Yep, seen a ton of them, helped build the frame for one. The biggest problem you might encounter is balance. Being that most rear axles are set to the front of the trunk, it puts the load area behind the axle unless you go at least the equal size in front of the axle. The Falcon pictured looks just about right on that aspect by using the hood area. You can also pre-load the hitch area with a cooler, cleaning box, chairs and such. Just have a good plan and don't start cutting until you have it laid out good. To light on the tongue equals a bitch to pull. Also, use a straight axle under the trailer, not an old rear end like I see so often. I saw a Mustang trailer that had the front fenders pushed back and the lines joined. It looked sweet but was pretty good size.

This is also a neat trailer if you want a bit "more" when you arrive. People actually travel with these.

I wish i could find the pic i have for you craig. Some time a go, my grandparents lived next to a mustang fanatic. Him and i had a lot of great conversations. But he had an 87 lx 5.0 and took another lx hatch back and cut it from just in front of the quarter window down and made the back half into a trailer. I thought It was the coolest thing ever. It really looked neat, he finished the front off with an angled piece of sheet metal, and had an artist paint a mustang mural on it. The sides were painted red to match his 5.0. from the back / side, it really looked like 2 of the same cars. You should find a way to cut up a coupe, or maybe just get a couple quarters and trunk and put it on some trailer frame.

+1; You've missed one of life's high points if you've never had an unruly trailer take you for a thrill ride.

Oh. Where are my manners? FNG making a first post with no intro. Been hanging around a while finally thought I'd jump in.

welcome dennis. I know what you mean about the thrill ride. :yikes Nothing like having an out of control trailer throwing your truck around. Been there and never hope to experience it again.

Welcome Dennis!
Thanks all for the advise too. Pete, I love the tear drop trailers. Some day! Lethal, Love to see the LX trailer, sounds cool.
I have considered putting quarters and stuff on a small utility trailer.

Your not cutting up that 68 Ranchero are you?

I've been thinking of making a teardrop out of a small boat trailer so I'd have something to sleep in if I went to an out of town show/ road coarse the night before. Shouldn't be too hard or $$, I could start with a used alum. trailer to save wt. I'm thinking of using 'dog bone' or torsion spindle arms so I could drop the floor pan as low as I want and have no axle in the way, like these:

A guy in my club has a '69 fb and a past gone '70 coupe so he cut the rear off the coupe at the door jambs and plans to make a 90* 'hood' for the rear seat area so he'll have somewhere to sit for shows, the 90* 'hood' will flip up to be a shade and he'll still have the trunk to store stuff. That seems to be the hardest part, what to make the front of the trailer look like, I'm not crazy about the ones that take the front of the car and graft it as the front of the trailer, ends up looking like a wreck or abomination.

That is cool! The street rod one is cool too. I have seen the motorcycle trailers too but it's not me...

Here's a pic I found while yahooing '67 mustang trailer', as you can see what you do with the front makes/breaks the look to me, I'd want something more aero but still '60's if I could pull it off with sheet alum./metal but gives you a good idea.

Craig, I think you should buy Nicks sleezeanor and cut it in half for a trailer. How cool would that be, an eleanor coupe pulling a sleezeanor trailer/FB!!!
