Time to move on in life's Journey

Well I haven't been around much these last few months do to lots of different events in my life and life's of others. Spent a lot of time looking at priorities in life and what to do with the the time I have left. Hopefully a good long time. I have spend some time over last year or so eliminating things from my life I no longer use or get as much pleasure out of as I once did.

I now have come to the point that I've decided to sell my cars and all that goes with them Parts, trailers, collectables etc. It will be no easy task and who knows once I get off my ass and do it I just might buy another one and start whole process again. It's just gotten to point that I'm not getting the enjoyment out of the hobby I once did and direction I've chosen with each car I don't see myself getting enough out of to justify the effort, time, expense etc. It's not really a money deal as much a choice to use my resources elsewhere.

Now I just have to figure out how to go about selling all this stuff but putting in writting is the first step.

Bummer. Sorry to hear that, but I understand. If you're not enjoying it anymore, you're not going to keep working at it even if you keep everything. Resources better allocated to something you will enjoy.

:eek:mg Mark!!

It's not like the Giants loss. No reason to jump off the cliff (unless I moved in next door). Honestly, I truly understand your situation and can honestly appreciate such a decision. People change, their desires and priorities change.

Sorry to hear that. I am not sure what cars you have, but I would love to see a list of parts that you may have.

Honestly evaluating priorities is difficult. Good luck in your decision and maybe you can come back to old cars one day. It's obviously better to enjoy your hobby than feel as if it's an obligation to maintain.

I can really relate to that. When we decided to go full time RV.....I had to decide to give up all the tools and 5 garage stalls and shop to go with it. Also there was a house on 4 acres of nice land. I found I did not feel like building cars anymore but I did want to own, drive and tinker on at least one. Do what works for you because you can always go back.

+1 here and please don't rush into things.Think things over and remember : after rain comes sunshine.

Maybe its something else that takes your pleasure in mustangs away.Maybe its better to tackle that problem.Just MHO.

Take care.

Mark,

Long time no hear from. Like Craig stated, do what feels right for YOU. I had an acquintance ask me recently if I'd sell my current car... and if I did would I build/buy another one? Two years ago the answer to these questions was "under no circumstances". Today the answer would be different. If the "right" money was in front of me the car would be gone in an instant and I wouldn't buy/build another one. Sure, it's nice to take the car out for an occasional drive/cruise, but my life would be just fine if the car wasn't there anymore.

Keep us posted on how your decision pans out.

+2 Take your time on the decision. That is a lot to get rid of and would be a lot to get back if you have a change of heart. Good luck with your decision and hope things pan out for you soon

Sorry to hear it, but I completely understand. Perhaps you can liquidate in stages. Spare parts first, memorabilia next, then the cars.

BTW the date of the Turlock CA swap meet, which is the first one of the season out here, is Jan 29-30, 2011. It is HUGE and may be a good place to start.

interestingly enough, I am in the same boat & bounced around the same decision. 3+ years ago i was hot & heavy, travelling all around the tri-state buying up parts. fast forward 3 years & my daughter is my biggest enjoyment. I have listed my gta for sale but have not sold it yet, spoken to my wife about selling the gt conv & as for the garage loaded to the top w/parts, forget about it, if the money came along, i would sell it all as a lot.
on top of the 2 nice cars, I stlll have 2 cars in pieces with all the parts necessary to build but the fun just is not there anymore. I am certain it is because I do not have my big garage any more & the garage i do have has my gt & gta in so there is no room to work.
I guess what I am saying is I know were your coming from but I also know thta I will miss it if I give it all up., maybe not now or a year from now but someday.

I was down this road once before. sold everything, then I got older, got my 1st house & got the bug all over again.

make your decision based on what you feel in your heart, like they said, you can always come back, but when you do, things will be a hell of a lot more expensive, especially if you sell the boss & try to buy another.

good luck

I have spoken to Mark a couple times since his announcement and I can see where he's coming from. It seems like odds are he will in due time, buy a 67/68 fastback daily driver. Something that he can just jump in and go flying up and down the coast in, without worrying about dust getting on the car, are the wheels all polished up, etc. Come home, park it and not think about it 24/7.

Sounds pretty good to me.

That is a very nice way to have a Mustang......have fun, fix what breaks, drive the heck out of it. Hope it all works out for him.

Actually, let the truth be known, he was getting fed up with all these NorCal guys parading around town in their 67/68 love machines and he wants part of the action. Can't blame him can we?

WWWEEELLLLLLLLLL........I feel sorry for you NoCal guys if it takes a sweet car to get any action.........or your drugs......or booze......or food...... Someday, somebody up there has to break out of the mold. Most of us get the cars as a result of the action......

That has always been my trouble. I get a nice car lightly modd it, then go crazy, and have a car that is either too temperamental, or too pretty to drive everyday.

Who know I might go a total differnt direction perhaps once everything's gone I will go Gremlin shopping after all IMHO this was
inspriation for such vechiles as the PT Crusier, perhaps I could show Mark his roots.

I will tell you this is getting to be a job, boy do I have a lot of S-it. Some real gems or items for Boss 302 like Copies of Donalds far book and some real kwel collectables ( much of rich I don't remember buying) I just came accross boss of origianal Hurst T handles including the black velvet covered ones. Think I've also decided to sell car trailer as well, going to hold nothing back once I make decision time to let it all go.
