Thoughts on studdering on when hot

OKay so yesterday I'm in the Memorial Day Parade. Its a nice day. Not hot by any standard. My '67 has a Griffin aluminum rad and I use some coolant with Water Wetter. Some may know that I have had heating/stalling issues in the past which is not coolant related by rather fuel related. So now I have it dialed in. Fuel line is heat protected, spacer under the carb, and the carb is tuned fine where it idles good.

So...idling alng in the parade the car was fine. After parade is over I start to move faster, normal street speed (30mph) and accelerating the engine studders. Like its gasping for fuel. Back to idle is fine though. Of course if I stomp on it all is good too. Its just normal easier acceleration that bogs it down....and only when its been hot like the parade got it.

Thoughts?

How is your fuel line heat protected? What about the fuel pump and line to the tank. Exhaust location near fuel line? I would say it sounds like the start of vapor lock but you got it up to speed before it took a hold of things.

Check accel pump shot for size of squirt and timing of it for your flat spot on gentle speed increase.

Fuel line is covered by a rubber hose (for insulation) and a heat shield over that from tank to entry into fender well. Also the exhaust pipe is covered with heat wrap where it gets within one inch of the line. Line from fuel pump to carb is a steel braided hose moved away from the block.

All is good except for the latest problem which is probably the accelerator squirt as Mach1rider sugested.

Sounds to me like the intermediate circuit of the carb may be clogged. When was the last time you rebuilt the carb?

What kind of fuel are you burning? Seems all I can get around here (Md.) is a Ethenol blend which can create water in the tank if it sits awhile. I was having similar problems with my small block so I started adding a recommended ratio of Stabil per Gallon of gas and it cleared it right up.

Good luck,
Dave.

When I get nervous, I tend to stutter a little bit. Maybe your car was just getting nervous in the cruise... :craz
