T5 swap, guide pins in both block and bell housing which should I use?

Getting ready to mate the T5 to the 289(both out of the car. Both the vintage block and the late model T5 bell housing have the 2 big guide pins for the block plate to sit on and for the bell housing to line up to the block. Which should I remove? I'm thinking remove them from the bell housing. I know if I do that I need to be careful and press them out(C clamp and socket, no hammer allowed) to ensure that the bell does not get damaged.

I would remove the ones that are easiest to get to. I'm assuming your ening is installed in the car. If the bellhousing is loose then you can work on it on a bench top.

Then just whichever are easier to get out. I use vise grips, clamp on, rotate the pin side to side as you pull.

before you assemble, make sure the throw out bearing will slide onto your retainer. i fought mine for 8 hrs one day trying to get the trans in place only to eventually find out there was a small flange in the TOB that wouldn't let it side onto the retainer.
