Suspension packages?

I have located and plan on buying a donor 68 for the sheetmetal and probably the whole front end to replace on Blu. I'll weld up the turn indicators on the fenders. I look forward to making my way out to DVS sometime this year to help with some of the work.
Because the front of my car was munched...so was virtually all the suspension. I'm trying to plan and do a budget for stuff just to get it back here. Does anyone know who sells a complete front suspension package in a kit form? Nothing fancy like coil overs and such...just straightforward stuff...but all of it so I'm not buying piecemeal.
Thanks

I would agree with Justin, any of the Mustang shops will sell "kits", however I think the Mustangs Plus "Grab-a-track" components are tried and true. Probably a little more $ than others, but worth looking into.

If you're willing to pay a little extra, I'd also consider giving OpenTracker a call. He sells the basically stock UCAs and LCAs, but that have been modified a bit for better peformance (like setting the UCA shaft up correctly, deburring it, and Tacking the bushing in the LCA in place so it won't slide around as they are sometimes wont to do).

Just a thought.

Make no mistake I have all of John's stuff, and LOVE it all!!!! I read that price was a concern, maybe I read in to it.

Yeah I read his post a couple of times, too, not sure if that's what he meant. But finally I realized he just said he was doing a budget, not that he was on a particularly tight budget :) I think we all are on budgets and have to cut costs where we can, but he didn't specify low-low price, so I just wanted to get the option out there.

For MY money, I would rather buy Moog components than G-A-T for the UCA and LCA. But if you get into MOOG you're going to start piecemealing.

Good call Steve, I forgot the John offered "kits"

I don't know that he offers "kits" per se...but if you call him up he'll figure you out a good package with a single pricetag :)

I finally found the one on Street or Track. I only saw 65-66 at first. The Grab-a-Trac and SoT kits were what I was looking for. In terms of price, both are pretty much the same and what k was expecting. Both are nice, but I may want to give the love to a stangfixer first. :craz

I dunno if you had a set on your car before (or if you did, if they survived) but if you didn't, and can justify it, please upgrade to the roller perches on Sean's site. I've never once heard anyone upgrade to a set and say it was a bad investment. And if you have the stock and the new ones side by side, it's comical how impossible to actuate the stock style was, compared to the roller style.

Good luck! Hope you'll get her home soon. I know it's been a long road.

No matter who I buy the suspension components from, I have already concluded that I would do the roller perches from Shaun. 100% no question. I have heard nothing but praise for Shaun and especially those perches. I think they are even an option on the Mustang Plus kits....maybe. Don't quote me.

Sorry, my bad. I meant Opentrackers perches through SoT as an upgrade to SoTs suspension kit. I know OT deserves the credit for the perches. :beat

Sean's site? Maybe we meant ORP's site. The two items that John has always preached in replacing is the perches and idler arm. Everything else is pure gravy.

Craig,

I'm sorry if I was unclear in pointing out that it's John's design and john's part. But Sean's kit comes with the perch as an option...I was telling Chris to make sure to select that option on Sean's site when he orders sean's kit (which comes with one of John's parts)

Thank you for clarifying for me.

No, you clarified everthing. Now I understand. Thanks

You guys are funny. Allow me to clarify the clarification, I sell John's perches.

The last show I was at I could hear all the stock perch cars drive by me because of all the creaking and groaing they were doing!

But I still don't know who Sean is.... :craz..Guess that means I don't understand "everything" which is what my wife has been trying
to tell me for years.

Back to the regularly scheduled program, I'm currently using roller perches and idler arm but very stock UCA and LCA in Red. One of these days I'm going to upgrade the arms to roller.

I'm in the middle of a suspension upgrade on my daughter's '67. This is what I have learned from John (OpenTracker). The '67 lower contol arms and strut rods are different than any other year. Moog just started making '67 lower arms and therefore are super expensive. Most people are putting '68 lower arms and strut rods on their '67's, including us.

You cannot go wrong with John's perches or control arms. You also cannot go wrong with Shaun's strut rods.

On my '66, I have the SOT strut rods, the OpenTracker roller upper arms, spring perches and idler arm, with Moog tie rods. I have stock lower arms. I also have the vario-centric camber kit in it, so I have no shims or rubber left in my front suspension. It is absolutely incredible how smooth this car rides now.

We're doing the exact same thing on my daughter's car, but, obviously, don't need the vario-centric camber kit, and we'll be going with the roller lower arms as well. We're also putting slightly softer front springs in her car (I have 620 lbs. in the '66 and she'll have 580 lbs.). John is finishing up the control arms as we speak and I, for one, cannot wait to see how her car drives afterward. It's going to be amazing, I'm sure. No, it's not the cheapest way to go, but it is reasonable, it will be an amazing ride and the suspension will be good to go for at least another 200k miles on a car that she puts less than 10k miles a year on.
