Suggestions on cleaning the underside?

I want to spend some time cleaning the underside of Red. Besides spending the day on my back cleaning via rags, etc, what other method would you suggest. I was also thinking of taking the car to one of those self car wash that has one of those bottom side washing contraptions and just go at it. Afterwards, take the car out onto the highway to dry it off. Afterwards I would then crawl under the car and scrub down the areas that the machine couldn't get to.

Suggestions?

I have used a rather large BBQ brush (you can use it if you want) that I use with a hose hooked up to the hot water (washing machine faucet) and use that stuff Awesome.

I'd spray it down some with something like purple power cleaner (diluted) ahead of time. Then power wash should be more of a rinse. Purple power works very well on loosening up grime... I don't have any front wheel wells, and use it to clean the firewall each season. Spray, rinse, wipe dry.

Call your local industrial rental company and see if the have any Hotsy Heated Pressure Washers or Steam Cleaners... just make sure to protect yourself from scalding water while doing it....

Spray the undercarriage with TIX ( degreaser ) , let it soak a bit and hose it down with hot water high pressure washer ......on a 2 or 4 pole lift.

The last time I remember being under Red (transmission reinstall), it was pretty clean already. Since then it really hasn't been driven that much, has it? How dirty could it be?

As glamorous as cleaning the underside might be, I'd consider taking it to the steam cleaning place on Stockton Avenue down here and have them put it on the lift and go at it. That's what I did with the 67 Coupe before I started to take it apart. They spent an hour on it and when they were done I was looking at clean red oxide.......it came out great.

Actually I spent a couple hours under Red yesterday and was very surprised just how clean it still is. Today will be concentrating under the motor and front suspension.

Ah yes, San Jose steam Cleaning. Mr. Truck has had it's bottom side cleaned there as well....

...or did I hit a speed bump just a little too fast?
