Started My Disc Brake Swap

Well I started my disc brake swap last night and continue to learn more things about my car that I acquired almost three years ago.

I found that the previous owner had replaced the brake pistons and shoes prior to my purchase but did not adjust them properly. They were barely making contact with the drums. I should have checked that when I first got the car. It does not matter now but it does explain the poor stopping power.

I also found out that I am running 14x8 wheels with a 4.25 backspace. I am still confused on what I will upgrade to.

Here are a few pictures of the progress. I should be ready to work on the master cylinder and lines this weekend. The wife is making me stay in the house tonight.

LOL. That never works. The dog beats me at that.

She is getting drunk now so It may be the one time I get lucky this year. :pbj

Wasilla, Alaska? Did you happen to know the Choate family?

Wow Skip... :lol

And if you need help with anything or need some tools, etc - give me a buzz on the cell. Leave a message if I don't answer. I'll be making some noise in the shop this weekend.

Good luck!

Thanks Jeremy. I should have everything except I found out this morning that they sent me the wrong bearings. They sent me the ones for small spindles instead of for the large ones that I have.

I guess I won't be getting it done this weekend.

Over at Mom's now for blacked eyes peas to start the year out right.

Later.
