Something really cool happened today

So a couple months ago I had the Mustang at the Cars & Coffee show in Greensboro. For those of you that aren't aware its a free show thats sponsored by a local grocery store (at least in Greensboro) the third Saturday of every month. I like this show because its from 8:00 - 11:00am, free admission and you get to see a little bit of everything. No pressure, no insanely long awards ceremony. Come and go as you please. The times I have been have I've seen over 200 cars at each show. Everything from Ferrari's to completely custom race cars..

So during the show this guy comes up to me, gives me his card and says he works for a publishing company called Source Interlink and he wanted permission to snap a few photos of the Mustang. He said it was a nice driver that had an interesting look. He explained that it was a long shot, but he wanted to submit the photo's to a some of the magazines that Source Interlink owned and see if any one of them was interested. I told him "SURE!!" thinking that I would never see this guy again. Anyway, he snaps a few photos, takes my contact info and he's on his way.

Fast forward to today, I get a call from the guy. Turns out that Modified Mustangs and Fords wants to do a full spread on the ole' rig! I'm pretty excited about this. Even the wife.. who really couldn't care less about the Mustang, was excited.

Has anyone ever done something like this before?? I have no idea what to expect. I'm still not completely convinced this isn't some kind of scam.

Thanks!

That's pretty cool. Let us know when it happens. :thu
I know it would never happen with my car, but I'm sure others have probably gotten their cars in magazines that way.

I wouldn't say that.. I think your ride is beautiful with very tasteful mods. Mine is very far from being a show queen.. with scratches, dings and chips and all. There were at least a half-dozen Mustangs at that show that I considered nicer than my rig.

I honestly think there is something to be said for blind luck. :steer

Just got my car in Hot Rod due to being in the background of a group shot. But never have had a feature on it. Congrats big time.

Cool!! Congratulations! What was the process like? Did they come and take some photo's and that's it? How long did it take to get published?

Thanks. My car is not the most popular, but I like it.

BTW make sure to check out COTM for Feb.

Thanks guys.. I've been looking at the MM&F website.. holy crap there's some nice cars on there!!

Talk about intimidating!! :hs

Congrats! I had a photo shoot with my car and it took about 3 1/2 years to show up. It was for Auto Enthusiast and did not make it to the print version, only on-line. Still pretty cool. The funny thing is I met the guy who referred me to the writer the first time I drove the car. I took the car to Dairy Queen with the family. Dumb luck and a chance meeting.

Congrats... a couple of paint chips isn't what they car about. Your car has a very clean and unique look.

Last summer I was at one of the popular local car shows. I was talking to some friends a few cars over when I see a guy leaning into my car. I went over to talk to him and realized he was from the regional cruising magazine / paper. He took a bunch of pictures and I gave him the rundown on my car. He put it in the next months issue, 1/2 page in black and white. The month before chillininnh's sportsroof was at a different show and got a write up along with a couple of nice color photos in the same publication. While it's just a regional paper it still feels pretty good to be one of the selected cars out of the thousands of cars this guy sees at all the various New England Car Shows throughout the season.

Congratulations! My fastback was in MM&F magazine a few years ago. They took the photos at a show around the first of sept. and I think it was in the january or february issue, I can't remember for sure. Be sure to order some extra copies when it comes out, they get worn out pretty quick lol.

I had the photo shoot today. It was interesting to say the least. The photographer, Ron Crable (http://www.wheelspinillustrated.com) decided that the top floor of a parking garage in downtown Greensboro would provide the best venue. Even though it was in the high 30's, the lighting, according to Ron, was perfect.

My "interview" will be in the next few days. He said that it would take 3-6 months depending how much they have in the pipeline. Ron's a very knowledgeable person and a car guy through and through. Hopefully, I'll get to know him better, he's an encyclopedia of historical car knowledge.

I managed to snap a few pics myself:

The best part of the day was the ride home. I had to do some moving shots and had the top down. I got to rip-snort around going home.. gosh that car is fun to drive!
