The 68 convertible was delivered yesterday afternoon by the painter. The hood however, needs a bit more finesing so it stayed behind at the paint shop. Pics to follow later today.

As promised..........

Getting The car back from the painter is my favorite part of any restoration. All the lousy body work is behind you and from this point forward you get to reattach parts. Everyday the car gets better and better until it's on the road. Of course then you have to find another project to Begin the cycle all over again.

In response to the comments and questions:

I have a partner on this car so two sets of hands have made a number of things go faster. Coupled with the fact that we decided to keep the car mostly original has streamlined the process immensely. Lastly, remember that the car was pretty solid and complete to begin with so the welding consisted of a new apron (previously damaged and repaired rather poorly) and three small holes in the floor. The rest has consisted of stripping, refurbishing, and repairing a large number of small parts as well as completly going through the brakes, steering, and suspension.

Yes the color is Wimbledon White (original) and it will have a black "C" stripe. The engine block was cracked so we needed to locate and purchase a replacement block. It came out of a '68 Cougar built around the same time as this car. Here's a pic of the freshened engine awaiting accessories, etc.

So, I'm thinking it can make it's maiden voyage to the Modesto American Graffiti show at the rate you guys are going, eh?

The car does look great, and the black C stripe will be very cool.
