Well I've been slowly working on the 65 fastback getting it ready for paint. We got the jambs and engine compartment almost ready. Then I decided to put it up on the lift and start prepping under the car. I took a look and decided to do more welding underneath, places I think the factory should have welded more. I hope to have this completed tomorrow and then really prep the undercarriage for paint. I know this probably didn't happen because I don't have pics, but I'll try to get some tomorrow for proof!

Ok, finally got the underside of the car and the inner fender area shot with bedliner today. I also decided to smooth all of the pinchwelds around the bottom of the car. That made a huge difference. I'll still black out the pinchwelds, it will just look much better.

The pictures of your progress look good. I noticed the picture of all the Mustangs in your shop. Do you work primarily on Mustangs?

You suggested I see James and J&K Transmission for my rear gear install a month or so back on VMF. I went to see him last week. He's a nice guy and did a good job. Thanks for the recommendation.

We have been doing a lot of Mustangs lately. I would much rather work on them than any other car. That pic is just my paint shop. The body and upholstery shop has a few more Mustangs as well as some trucks, 55 Nomad, Cadillacs, and a few others.

I'm glad you had a good experience with James. He sets up all of the rear ends we do and I've never had any problems.

Looks good, 2 questions:

1. when you say smooth the pinch welds, this is grinding and filling?

2. what do you use for bedliner product?

Thanks,

Jeff

Yes, the pinchwelds are still there, I just ground them, smoothed over them with a skim coat of filler, and blocked sanded them smooth. I have used lots of bedliner products through the years. The best I have found for under a car is U-Pol Raptor liner. It dries hard, but still flexes enough so it doesn't crack. Some of the other bedliner products stay too "rubbery" for me.
