We got a link from one of our sponsor cars of some runs at Pamona, the white 69. There are several runs of it but the best look at it is around the 7:15 mark.

Lot's of cool runs. WARNING ... there is a chevy or two in it.

I agree. I'll have some chevy stuff on the web site soon. I made up a roller UCA kit that fits the early chevy ll Nova. That suspension is just like the early Mustang in design.

Alex's car is pretty darn quick. He also has a 65 with a "little" 289 in it. Amazing what he's done with his cars and the records that he holds.

I like the profile shot at the starting line. You can see the ORP sticker on the front fender... and it sure goes up in the air at launch!

Cool footage.

What distance were they running?
Just wondering since the big boys run less than 1/4 mile now.

I assumed this..... Topic: ORP does the 1320 to mean it was the 1/4 mile.... unless he's measuring in half inches.... LOL

If that was an 1/8th mile track those cars were ridiculously slow.

That's why I asked the question. Almost everyone thinks that all tracks use 1/4 mile (1320ft) as track length and records but NHRA has reduced it to 1000 ft so my question stands. Was the track 1320 (a commom assumption) or 1000 (NHRA length)?

It was the 1/4 mile track. I have always wanted a car that would pull a wheelie like that. It's got to be fun as he!!

Since Scott Kalitta's death two years ago, the fuel classes (Top Fuel & Funny Car) use a 1000-ft length (different trap and timing lights). All other classes use 1320 feet.

Good to know.! !! But then again , i have no clou about 1/4 miles and drag racing.
I am more to track racing ( not oval racing ) i like cornering !!!

it wasn't solely because of his death, its because the top fuel guys keep getting faster and faster and they're trying to keep track speeds below 300 for insurance purposes. the track has to pay big money if the cars do over 300 mph for insurance, so they reduced track length to 1000' and it brought speeds down below 300 for a while, but obviously these guys have crept back up over the 300 line again, so who knows maybe the track will be reduced again for the nitro boys

its what i was told by a fellow fan at least
