opinions wanted...mid rise lift

have a line on a used mid rise lift for about 600.00...anyone have one? Good idea? My garage ceiling wont accommodate a post lift, so I thought this would be a decent compromise. Is it worth it not to have to position jackstands all the time?

What's a "mid rise" lift?

I am soooo over jacking my car up and putting it on stands. If it would work in my garage, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

I'm sorta looking for a decent "homeowner's" lift that will get the car just high enough to remove a transmission.

Those are like the old Cly lifts from way back.
While it is great not to have to jack up and use stands, It is very limiting in what you can
do as far as repairs go.
Trans change outs are next to impossible.

But then I am spoiled having a nice 2 post lift.... :vic

Sounds like a decent price if it's in good shape. It sure would beat the monkey poo out of floor jacks and jack stands!

We used some at the dealership for a while. They are basically good for rotating tires and not much else.

Those lifts are great when working on wheels/brakes/rotors , cleaning car , exterior work like mounting bumpers.Great when your back is killing you when you have to bent your spine to get some work done beneath or in the wheelwell.
Not useble for motor/tranny/driveline/exhaust/bottom sheetmetal repair.
I have a 4 post lift with a pit underneath of 3 feet and is very workable.
Total height is about 2,60 meter or 9 ft i think.

Thanks for the replies, I decided to pass on it for now. Sadly my garage ceiling is far too low for a post lift of any kind, I dont think. I'll just have to wait until I win the lottery and build a real shop with a high ceiling!
