Back in like 2017 I posted my 66 coupe, and at the time I had done the motor, a new 347, trans, wiring harness, wheels and tires, and some interior goodies. But there was some major issues going on under that shiney new paint.
The previous owner told me he had replaced both quarter panels. But the panels started developing a crack that went from the doors all the way to the trunk. I assumed there was some shrinkage going on with the body filler. Boy was i mistaken
. This was the opening of a big a$$ can of worms. FYI about 90% of this panel was removed with a crappy stanley putty knife!! I have never seen welds just pop loose like that. An old welder friend of mine looked at the welds on the quarter panels and told me the guy welded them on with coat hanger. And the welds were only evry 2-3 inches apart. The repair panels that were on the car were welded in the same way and all were removed with minimal effort with a screwdriver or chisel would pop them off. The PO/builder of this car is lucky we never got rear ended or hurt driving this car. And should probably stop selling himself as a paint and body man with 30 years experience.
After looking and poking around in the suspiciously excessive amount of under coating and ROOFING TAR!!! I made a shopping list, and started ordering sheet metal. After filling up a spare bedroom with enough sheet metal to replace the rear end of a car, my project began.

So far, both trunk pans and transitions, inner and outer wheel houses, passenger frame rail, rear passenger pans, both full quarter panels, trunk lid, tail light panel, bumper mounts, rear valance, several home made patch panels, and entire rear suspension is now 4 link with adj coilovers.
More to come.
