Oil in upper intake

Well, what started off as replacing the v-belt with a serpentine belt has grown into a life of it's own. I figured I might as well finish off the main computer wiring harness. For easy access, I yanked the upper intake. I yank the top lid off the upper to get to the two middle bolts, and what do I see: Oil pooled all over the upper runners. The only place that I can think that it can be coming from is the pvc. So, I guess it's off to the parts store tomorrow to get a new one...

Sorry for not chiming in sooner.....

On the BBK EFI system...... oil puddled in the upper intake is normal. I talked to BBK tech guys about the very same thing a year or so ago. On traditional EFI uppers the runners all angle downward and any oil would be burned off. On the BBK upper there are "low points".... a lot of them.... that prevent the oil from draining into the lower intake and burning off.

There's nothing wrong with your PCV system and you're fine to continue operating.

Thanks Dave. Dang a lot of oil gets trapped up there, cause there some serious puddles and I've only put less than 1000 miles on the car since putting on the intake.

I guess that I'll just have to do some hard cornering to slosh the oil around to burn it off!! :craz :craz

Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking when I first saw it too. According to BBK it is perfectly normal and nothing to be concerned about.
