no more Ranger

Really hate to see that. I've had two rangers. Sold the first one with 175000 miles on it to my brother. It now has 245000. The one I have now has 185000 miles. Plan on keeping it for a while.

I think that it is a bad move on Fords part. Read something about the new F150 getting better gas mileage than the Ranger and that was part of Fords justification for dropping it. Myself I own both, have had 4 Rangers and one F150. I like the size of my Ranger so much better than my F150. Granted my F150 is a full size bed ExCab. But the Ranger is an awesome truck. Anyone remember the Ford Courier? Dad bought one after he sold his 71 cheby pickup. When the Ranger came out in 81 he waited a year and ordered an 82 from the dealer.

I'm certainly no economics major, so help me understand this. Ford is gonna kill off the Ranger due to low sales....but they're gonna offer a redesigned Ranger, and only overseas?!

I kinda understand killing off Mercury, but NOT the Crown Vic platform based vehicles in general. Yeah, for regular sales it was primarily grandpa and grandma that bought anything on that platform BUT....they had the market darn near totally cornered on fleet sales with it! Now offer the (new) Ranger, but only overseas? Did GM somehow slip some of their corporate "geniuses" into the board room at Ford? :rant

p.s. I remember the Courier. Ironic that it was Ford truck built by Mazda. When the Ranger came along it then also became a Mazda truck, made by Ford!

I've had 5 Rangers and a Bronco II. Two of my Rangers I bought new and were the only vehicles I ever bought new. I travel overseas and see the smaller trucks are much more popular in many countries but big truck are more popular than cars in US. I hate to them go!

Its sad to hear this too, Ford is giving up on there best built vehicles, Remember when they put a 4 cylinder diesel in the ranger 40MPG! That was a great little truck- There was ways of making today's ranger more fuel friendly, sad to see that plant that was opened in '26 get shut down.

I have had 2 used and 1 new ranger, 1 new courier(81),1 used bronco II, 1 nef full size bronco, 1 used, 2 new f150's Have a 11 f150 now, the rangers were dependable trucks--not good mileage from 4 litre 4wd--courier was decent---the main reason ford doesn't do the ranger on a mid-size platform is the fear of it cutting into the f150 sales and they would lose their sales lead over chevy. The 11 f150 so far is the favorite for me--over 20 mpg on the highway, the coyote 302 sounds great and runs strong---the reason the small trucks are more popular in some countries is because license plates are based on fuel mileage and horsepower---I saw very few pick-ups in Ireland, a lot of cars pulling trailers though.
