new hinges worked but problems with the allignment of the hood

I broke down and bought the ring hinges from mustangsplus. Surprised that the washers they included were 3/4" wide and the opening were 5/8" to attach it to the body. Also the washers were too small for the hood?? That being said the hood sits down in the rear fine, but trying to adlust the hood is difficult. I'm having an issue with it. Anybody dealt with aligning a hood like to shed some light on it? Also, would it make sense to have to trim off some of the hood at the sides of the front in order to get all the gaps correct? It would be something like 1/8" or so.

I have those hinges but I had the body shop install mine. Never really adjusted them. If you feel that the hood doesn't open far enough call RB and they will send you extensions for the shocks to that the hood opens further. I did and my scalp has much less scrapes than it did before.

I've had those for a few years, no way was I going to even attempt installing myself, the alignment process would have driven me crazy. I had a local restoration shop install them for me, he did a spectacular job I think. He showed me where he trimmed the cushions on the fenders in order to get it to line up as it should, he said without trimming the hood was up slightly. Maybe that will help you?

Do tell? I'm going to look into that. I was annoyed at how far the hood opens after the installation. Thanks for sharing.

They are bullet spacers that go on the shocks. You unscrew the ball on the end of the shock and the spacer screws on. I think I paid like $5 for shipping.

Thanks, I went to the web site and there is no mention of them. I'll call them on Monday and see what they have to say. I do like the look of the billet trunk latch striker, too bad I didn't see the before I boxed on my trunk last winter. I guess I could just re-work the enclosure I made for the filler tube.

:wop

Since I too have a set of these hinges, I'd really like to see 'em. Certainly sounds a lot cheaper than getting longer shocks!

I spoke to Travis a little while ago, yep, they do have spacers, but he's not sure they will work on the 65 and 66 models, might be too long. He told me to put a zip tie on the shaft of the cylinder, then close the hood, when opened the zip tie will be pushed to where I can measurerure the amount of shaft left out of the cylinder, obviously amount of length than can be added. So I'll try this and see what happens.
