This was copied from the updated site when I logged in.......guess I really pissed off the mighty one.....

You have been banned for the following reason:
No reason was specified.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

Whoa! Maybe I need to check mine.

edit:

Must be a generic, I got the same thing. I don't like the look though. It looks like all the other auto forums. Sluggo, you ever sell this site and I'll personally kick your "word I can't use in an open forum".

For sure. I logged into other forums from auto forums but the VMF is still stupid. I guess I need to see if I can find an e-mail for Don from auto forums. I see nothing for him listed on their pages though.

Though my ban was somewhat lifted, I still could not log in from home. It would still say I was banned until 2038. This am I just tried and the new VMF site is up and running. Maybe I need to stir the pot so I can join your new "banned forever" club.

my bet is that the old VMF software didn't have a "Ban Forever" option, so when someone got his panties knotted cause he wasn't being properly worshiped, he would just put in 30 years which is close enough to "forever" on the internet that it works.

When they upgraded to the new software they had to take ALL The old data from the old database and convert it to the NEW data layout in the new database. This is why the site was shuttered for a day, because converting all that data is a laborious process. They could have forked the database sunday night, started the conversion on the fork, and let the old site continue running on the old database, and then updated the site this morning to use the converted fork, BUT that would have resulted in any posts or anything done since sunday night being deleted. I think they did an amazing job converting over that beast of a website.

When they were doing the conversion, since the new software obviously does support "eternal bans", I bet they just converted the data so that all bans were rewritten as "forever"

For those of you that have done the banning-go-round over there, how did you get back on? Did you email Bob and say "dude, let me back on" or did he just calm down and let you back on of his own volition? Not that it matters, I'm just curious.

The address of your home PC was prob. blocked...you must have REALLY stepped in it to get an IP-ban.

Dear VMF owners,

Recently I was banned for "calling out" a certain someone and their public hypocrisy. For this I was banned for 38 years and with the new software, I have been banned forever. To this date, the ban has not been lifted and I can only assume it's because I haven't contacted the previous owner and asked for the ban to be lifted, apologized, thanked him, or whatever the protocol is for getting a ban lifted. While I have not lost any sleep over the banning, it would be nice to be able to possibly help someone with a mustang related problem. With my recently acquired mechanical knowledge I feel I could certainly help someone in areas of "what not to do". I recently rebuilt my carb for no reason, replaced the fuel system for no reason, diagnosed a miss as a bent valve, pulled the dizzy a couple times (this makes me an expert at timing), and stared at my engine for countless hours scratching my head. Whether it's with VMF or not, I feel I can certainly help someone avoid wasteful work. This in itself could be very valuable to someone with limited knowledge like myself. As far as the banning goes, could you please ask the old owner if this ban is really warranted? It seems to me that my banning came solely to shut me up as 3 of my posts were deleted that simply asked him why he was breaking his own rules. Now I admit my love for guns, politics, and dead cats have caused some stirs in the past but this was my first banning. If it is determined that my ban should be lifted I cannot guarantee I will not cause a little controversy. If it is determined that my ban should not be lifted that is ok also. I won't lose any sleep over it and will assume this is how grown men act while hiding behind the internet. I am simply looking for an answer. Will I get back on VMF or will it be the same 'ole same 'ole?

Regards,
Duane (blue65coupe)

Duane, bob is still high on the food chain...if you're not SOL, I'd be quite pleasantly surprised.

Edit: Seems like people are speaking their minds too. I envision a lot of bans if he still has the power. This is gonna be interestong.

Why not just e-mail this to boobs work e-mail?

Can I? Please??????

Go for it. Tell him it's from me and I wanted it delivered to him. I don't have his email but feel free to link it to him. It's not like I'm hiding.

I did notice that it says banned under my name on any old posts of mine. At least I can carry the banned banner high...........

bob would not be in business if it did not make money. Wonder how his other associations work out or if the frustrations are taken out on the VMF.

Just sent this to AF Don....

"Since I was banned by bob just prior to this upgrade, I was curious if the ban was forever as stated when I go to the new site or if that was just a computer thing.

I was banned for remarks made that I feel were justified as others said the same. The entire post that caused my banning has since been removed for other problems from the original poster.

If my banning is forever, I would request that my loggin and all info concerning me be removed. My login was AzPete."
