Some of you might be aware, that I lost my coolant on the way home from Knott's Sunday evening. Drain bung on alum radiator is - GONE.

I ended up getting it towed home and last night got my neighbor and wife to try and push start it (Starter no worky and batt is good).

Got it to fire, so I know the engine is not siezed, but it wouldn't run long enuf to get into the garage. We pushed it up the driveway and I'll try to get it into the garage this evening. Then the diagnosis.

That sucks. Did the engine die on the way home (from lack of coolant) and that's how you found out there was a problem or did you just notice the temp rising as you were driving and shut it off as a precaution?

I saw the temp rising and stopped to put water in it, then noticed the bung had escaped. I then decided (as I have an oil cooler, and am running synthetic oil) to nurse it home and watch oil pressure and the water temp guage (altho with no water in there, it's kind of useless). In Thousand Oaks, I was on a decline and decided to let the engine idle, and coast a bit to cool it off a little. When I did that, the engine died and I could not re-fire.

I then had tried to start it after a bit, and I think the starter croaked. (Time for a mini torque starter!). So, I tucked my tail between my legs and got it towed home. Good news is that between my roadside service on the cell phone bill and towing on my insurance, the tow bill is covered.

I'll fix it. I've seen worse with the demolition derby cars I've driven (the 67 tbird ran for about 30 minutes with no water and after the race, it started right up).

Today I got the battery charged and got the car into the garage. the engine was missing a bit and I suspect I might have a head gasket failed.

Nonetheless, I am pleased that I was able to get the car into 'The barn'

This engine won't fail!

Thanks for your support. I shall return.
