I am still interested in what kind of opinion the americans have regarding their mustang hobby being exported to the rest of the world.Sometimes i see on Ebay that americans won't sell to foreigners.What is your opinion?
Honestly.Maybe one reason is that they speak and write aweful ( like me )?

Quite simply, scammers. Add to that the paperwork involved in shipping items of value. Most sellers don't want the bother.

I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle and expense of exporting, but if I'm selling a car, I don't car if the buyer is from Pluto as long as he has the CASH.

i think the hobby being exposed to the rest of the world is a good thing. It certainly promotes the aftermarket, creates competition between vendors. The out sourcing of parts manufacturers I do not like so much. But we cant control that. As far as car sales, like others have stated, I dont want to bother with it, but if you buy it, you can handle all the shipping. Cash talks.

I agree. Last time this came up on VMF, there were a couple jacka$$es who seemed to have some sort of moral dilemma about selling muscle cars to foreigners and all I've got to say to that is that the 1% is making the other 99% of us look bad. The scammers aren't all that hard to pinpoint, and assuming we're talking about legit overseas buyers, here are my thoughts:

1) Cash talks
2) A car guy is a car guy, who cares where he's from?

I'd advise the OP to ignore these whack jobs and continue burning expensive European petrol at will.

I agree with yawl. The only issue I could have with any "collector" would be hoarding rare stuff in a privet collection but many American's do that. Me personally could never afford the cars collectors buy but I do like to see them at car shows or museums. I do think it's cool that American Muscle is desireable overseas.

I'd say it's the paperwork. I personally think it's great if folks from other countries like Mustangs.

I buy lots of stangs every yr sourcing for other mustang enthusiasts to ship to the u.k never had a problem with any sellers,its simple you wire over the funds and when clear the shippers pick yp the car and do all the releveant paperwork.All the seller has to do is write out a bill of sale and notify the dmv that the car is going to be exported.If i do come across a stubborn seller i get my buddies in usa to do the buying.javed

I've got two for sale currently--if someone wires me money and picks up the car(s) in a timely fashion, I don't have any problem selling overseas. It's kind of sad to see them (our muscle cars) go (so far) away, but if they get locked in someone's collection and aren't driven here in the US, it's the same result.

I sold a '69 Mustang to a guy in Sweden a few years ago w/o any issues. Yes his grammar and spelling were atrocious, and I initially blew his emails off, but then he called me so I knew that he was serious and not a scammer. He had a buddy here somewhat local, who came and gave me cash and picked up the car. The guy stored them in a barn until they got a container full, then shipped them out.

I recently sold a '67 convertible to a fella in Hungary. He arranged shipping, paid for it and the shipping company called me to arrange a time for pickup. Only thing I had to do was have a bill of sale and the title filled out for transfer. It has almost been a week since the car was picked up, haven't heard anything, so hopefully no new is good news! The guy did wire transfer for payment of the car, which was also hassle-free.

Like others, I think it's cool that there are enthusiasts around the world that like an American made car. Bringing one back is just a boat ride to get it home, so it's not like they have to be gone forever!

I've found with my experience and the experience of other "foreigners" that we sometimes do not get treated with the same respect as US customers. In the end of the day it is unlikely that we will rock up to their shops and kick ass.

I've lost nearly $10k on my build....wont make that mistake again.

Remember i said "sometimes" and since then i am very careful about who i buy off and I will not buy from a new vendor without checking them out first. Since then i've had nothing but positive experiences.

My advise to anyone buying from overseas is to check out a vendor no matter what size they are or how pretty their website is.
