No matter what check-out line you choose, it will always be the slowest.

A week ago, I got into the shortest line I could find, only to be behind some middle-aged lady that argued over a 10 cent coupon on a certain kind of popcorn in a box. Apparently, she chose the wrong one that the scanner didn't approve, and had to send a clerk back twice to find the correct one. When the correct one was found, she rejected it because of the flavoring. Meanwhile, a good 10 minutes went by before I could even start unloading my cart.

Today, I got in a line with two ladies in front. The first one swiped at least two credit cards seven times and gave up, giving the process over to the checker, so swiped one card the first time. The next lady immediately in front of me had five cases of soda in the bottom of her cart, and refused to pick up any one of them to be scanned. The clerk had to stop everything, go to the cart with her scanner only to find out the portable scanner couldn't reach. A good five minutes was wasted before a case was brought out so the scanner could read it.

Ugh....

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

There should be only 2 lines in a supermarket or whatever.
One for the guys and one for the ladies !!!!
Just like they did with the lavatories.

:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

You should not complain about your wife's checkout procedures like that.....

I like the military commisaries way.....one long line and you go to the next open register as called by the cashier.

My thought is why you stayed in that line for 15 min watching this drama.....

Something I have done is call the store manager while in line and bitch about slow lines or the lack of cashiers.....threats to leave a full cart of groceries can do wonders.

Around here they have installed a lot of self-check lanes. For the most part its an improvement. I don't mind doing it myself. I realize it is to the stores benefit but view it as a chance to control my own destiny and avoid the scenarios Mid played out. Only draw back is idiot in front of you who cannot figure out how to utilize the interface. Or bag their own groceries. I have seen people drop canned goods in on chips or bread a lot.

I always look at the people in the line before I get in the line. If my people senses tell me to avoid. I run to another line. I hate using self check out unless I'm at home depot getting a few things. I prefer to interact with the checker. Seems to go faster.

No self check for me...same price if they do the checkout....lower my prices and I would consider it.

Hell, I'd even pay a bit more to do it myself provided it is faster, etc. which in most cases it proves to be. I cannot stand lines and the crap like Randy points out that always happens

Randy,

Axioms have a certain format and I believe you still have some work to do to finish the job.

I was in a hurry one day at the super market and the lady in front of me was argiung over 50 cents, after a bit I handed her 50 cents and politely asked her to move along as I was in a hurry.

Self checkout: Generally a good thing but you will realize stupidity follows.
Lines: Always, ALWAYS, process the people in front of you. A short line doesn't mean quick.
Cashiers: Process them also. A short, and seemingly fast, line can become a nightmare due to the cashier.
Patrons: Stay away from the lines that contain women with tank tops and multiple tattoos, women with multiple cans of formula and government cheese, women with kids pawing at the Enquirer, women pawing at the Enquirer, women that look strung out on anything, women that are talking....

Yeah, we need a "males only" line.

So pretty much just stay out of Walmart, huh?
