Me too

I too am looking for a steering box. Preferably new and free :craz . Anyhow, It needs to be manual for a 68. I can buy, trade my power steering gear box or trade 65-66 parts. Let me know what you've got. Hope to find one with a pitman arm as well. Thanks guys.

Mike,

What comes around, goes around. I have a '68 steering box that I believe still has it's pitman arm attached that I'd love to get rid of. I'm unsure if it's a MS or PS gearbox though.... Condition is unknown as it was removed from a non-running car.

Would you like me to box it up and get you a shipping qoute?

Dave

Thanks Dave. Are there any numbers or a tag on the box? I'm not sure if there is a noticeable difference but maybe we can get an opinion or look the numbers up. If it's manual I'd love to get it from you.

I'll take a look at it this weekend, fortunately I know EXACTLY where it's at, which usually isn't the case.

Using Randy's website it appears this steering box IS for manual steering. The pitman arm is not attached to the box and I have no idea where it got to, but the box is yours if you want it. Let me know.

I'm SURE Mike wants it but if for any reason he decides he doesn't, I'd like to take my ticket for being next in line.

I'm confused. Why would you need it?

ROFL...Yeah! 4 wheel steer for the best turning radius possible!

Because I want to go to a collapsible column. I can pick up a 68 column, mate it to a 68 box, and it should be a pretty plug and play operation. I was going to go with an Idiot, I mean Ididit, but their 66 columns are non collapsible, negating my whole reason for upgrading. I've heard too much bad about FR, so I'm trying to avoid that route.

That's why :)

Gotcha.

Well then you're really going to hate this..... I still have the aforementioned '68 gearbox, but I gave the "wheel to rag-joint" '68 column from the same car to a local guy because I was tired of seeing it sit in the corner. He didn't necessarily want/need it, but he did take it.

HAHAHAH beautiful. Eh, this is one of those things I'm just kinda keeping my eyes open for. I figure the right deal will plop in my lap when the time's right.

Have you heard from John if he got the Steering Box? I had an iPhone catastrophe and lost all my contacts so I can't call him, and have no other way to contact him.

Yes. John received the steering box and had it installed the same day. He had to drop the header to remove the old box and needed a new gasket to be completely finished, but he finished that the next day. His car is up and running and he's thrilled that it didn't sit in a down status for very long. The steering box is working as advertised. Thanks again Steve for the rescue.

I'll take it Dave! Will it fit in a flat rate box? Do you need anything for a 65-66? Let me know how much to send for shipping.

Mike.
