Lower rad hose..WTF?

The lower rad hose on my 70 vert sits very close to the fan belt about 1/8 of an inch, so close it actually has put a small grove in the hose. I have tried 3 different manufacturers and they all sit the same way. I even tried a straight flex type but the bend is so severe it kinks. I am going crazy, anyone have any creative ideas?

Can you adjust where your radiator sits relative to the fan?

I had the same problem to the point of it actually cutting Into my hose causing it to leak, I ended up putting a wire stiffner inside the hose and solved the problem. Now idk you tried
That or not but it worked for me.

I used a Ford hose that has the wire spring type stiffner inside and it still sits way to close.

Add washer under the engine block mounts and/or check to make sure your trans mount is not holding the trans up too high.

Vinny,

Try this hose. Dayco 70678. It's a lower radiator hose for 1969-1977 Bronco. It should give you the clearance that you need. You have to cut it to fit. Take the stock hose and compare it. I had that same problem when I put my aluminum radiator it hopefully it works.

A regular 302 motor and new old stock radiator, thanks for the link I will check it out

My guess is that the holes in the radiator frame are off slightly (or the hose bid is set too high.) A couple of years ago we changed my friends radiator in his 65 and had to elongate the holes to drop the radiator down to keep the fan from hitting the hose.

Thanks for all the good responses, I did take an hour at a local Napa store and we went through about 8 different hoses and finally found one that should work, I will get a chance to change it tomorrow and hopefully the problem will be solved.

Not the fan hitting it's the power steering pump belt that hits the hose
