Loose sports mirror on 70 Mach 1

The glass in passenger side Mirror wont stay adjusted in my 70 Mach 1. It has the sports mirrors and the glass and assembly is 3easy to remove. Has anyone figured out an easy way to make the ball on the back of the mirror less loose?
 
Are you sure it's the ball & socket that's loose? I thought mine was loose also, turned out to be loose screws holding the mirror in the mirror frame.
If not, I think they make replacement mirrors.

You could do like I did and buy a new mirror after trying everything else. :rant

The problem is they are painted body color so a replacement requires painting. I have a piece of a rubber washer wedged between the housing and mirror holding the mirror and the correct angle. It's a bit redneck but works and is not real obvious.
