...give me opinions. I need some tall valve covers. I had the black finned before and liked 'em but can't seem to find the same style in a tall version. I'm leaning toward straight chrome and just want to keep everything clean and purty without going over-the-top. The second set is similiar to what I had but something just doesn't look right to me. I think it's that the fins don't roll over the ends. The third set looks a little better but I'm not really a "logo" person. Engine bay is black, block is blue, heads and intake are aluminum, all wire-wrap is black. I'm probably gonna go with the braided sleeve for my heater hoses and upper radiator hose. Whatcha think? It does really need to look good because, according to Mark, it's gonna spend more time with the hood up than going down the road. I'm also looking to relocate the coil so any pics/suggestions would be appreciated.

I would go with the plane chrome ones. Is like the second picture ones but I always hated cleaning the finned ones.

Not sure how you feel about billet aluminum, but below is a pic of my tall valve covers with matching oval air cleaner. I painted the beads blue to match the block. Just another idea. They were pretty reasonably price too (from ebay). You do have to occasionally polish them, so its a tad more work than cleaning chrome.

No need to continue with this post. I bought the ones in the above picture and got the matching breathers. Thanks buening.

Hey no problem! I love the thick flanges on these compared to the stock covers. They are probably 1/4" thick. I used the Permadry valve cover gaskets with these covers and haven't had a leak yet, and am still able to pull the covers for various reasons and not have to buy a new valve cover.

You know how you "know when you see it"? That was it. I wanted a very clean look but wanted it "broken up" a little. Thanks for dropping that pic of your engine.

Good choice Duane. They look clean and simple. Yes, the thicker flanges are an indication of a quality valve cover.

Well , i bought the Tall Polished Cobra Valve Covers.Because i already had the hipo style air cleaner.

Those look very sharp Jake. They look better on than the pic, especially with your air cleaner setup.

Thanks, the air cleaner is the only thing that has the edelbrock logo on.

I have polished aluminum VC's and since my car is a driver I find they look like crap. Hard to keep water spots off and they get dull. They are a PIA to keep looking nice. Anyone else have this issue and how do you deal with it? I'm thinking of painting mine semi-gloss black... I used to have chrome and they were easy to keep clean.

If you have a lot of aluminum and is a DD, I would recommend getting a sealer like Zoops. My car isn't a DD and tend to clean my often, so some Meguirs NXT on a terry cloth every once in awhile gets them shining real nice. Its no different than having polished aluminum rims, except the rims get more exposure to waterspots than the valve covers. I did mention in my post that they are more work since its aluminum :ecit The sealer will work wonders, although it isn't cheap.

thanks for the tip on the Zoops. I didn't mean to hyjack the thread but that is what got me thinking about it. I have March's aluminum pulleys and the Ford Racing VC's. It's not a DD exactly cuz I'm gone every week but I drive it every weekend and any days of the week I might be home. It gets pretty nasty some times. They are so bad now they don't even clean up well.
