Interior Paint

This is my first vintage mustang. I am very close to priming the car and was wondering what all needs painted body color on the inside? It is completely stripped. It will be House of Kolor Tangerine with black interior. Dash, inside of doors???

Pictures?

Thanks

The outside color does not carry over to any interior panels, they are separate color codes entirely. The door jambs are painted body color but the door's inside panel face, the part facing the interior, is the interior color.

That is true for stock cars. You can paint any metal parts on the inside to match the outside if YOU desire. Dash, door inside, and rear interior quarter panels are ones that could go body color. I did this on a blue one a few years ago. I liked it, some didn't. Personal choice if you are not going concours/stock.

Not completely true. There are some aspects of the door that are body color; the transition from interior to exterior color does not quite follow the weatherstripping, but for non-concours correct applications, one can use the weatherstrip as a guide.

From a "modified" perspective, you can paint the entire dash panel (ashtray and steering column included) the same as the exterior body color. I did this with my '66. I also painted the interior side of the A pillars with body color/paint.

Well its going to be HOK Tangerine orange so not quite stock lol I was just wondering what everyone thought looked good. I'll have some extra so I thought some interior may look good body color but I also have some black so no big deal.

AZPete...have any pictures?

Sure, some interior shots plus one of the matching color under the hood. I would do it again if I have another car painted completely. I might leave the firewall under the hood black for a different look......
