I'm loosing interest in the Mustang.......

I've done nothing with old yeller convertible for about a year...except starting it occasionally. Kind of lost interest in finishing it. Tried to sell it, but nobody has any money they want to part with. Maybe I get excited again this fall.

I've had my car 21 years, and basically it's a continuation of my 1st Mustang so for 31 years I have had at least one Mustang. During that time I have been frustrated and even thought of giving up during the restoration process. Since I have been able to drive it regularly, however, I am never without interest. I drive it to the grocery store, to pick up the kids, whatever excuse I can find. My wife wishes I didn't want to drive everywhere because it's loud, no AC, rides rough, etc. Anyway, I must admit I do lust after other cars. Don't tell my Mustang but I really like J's rat rod! I also have the Drag Car I need to be working on! I hope you get you passion back, maybe we need to trade Mustangs for a few weeks then you will want your car back for sure!

Struggling with it right now.

The 08 is just too easy to get in and go.

But it just takes a short drive in the 69 to realize how much more "cool" it is. I doubt anyone will follow me around until I stop to ask about the 08.

I face it every spring. I say every spring that my plans this summer is to get the car on all fours, sheetmetal replaced, body basically done, and suspension rebuilt. I plan to build the engine over the winter, roll the car out in the spring for primer and drop the motor in. It hasn't came to be now for 2 years. Between work, family, and just being plain lazy/tired from the previous (family/work), I just can't seem to summit that mountain. I know once I do, it's down hill skiing from there. Just part of it, I tell myself; I'm in no hurry, I tell myself; well, I running out of excuses now :char :roll
You've got an awesome car, get it back to running and you'll forget all about this loss of interest.

I certainly get "burn out"! Sometimes it can be from small tedious and repetitious things, sometimes from big setbacks. I usually leave things alone and come back later. I also help get myself motivated by going to car shows or car related events or watching some car shows on the boob tube (like the Power Block shows on Spike). If all else fails, there's always the great folks around here to help get the wind back in your sails, as people helped me out recently. Bottom line, don't get frustrated or do anything rash that you later regret (like sell the car).

In addition to my coupe project I've been working on recently, I also have a fastback that's been torn down for almost 25 years! While most of the delay on the fastback was due to moving, work, kids, money, burn out crept in there a time or too also. If I didn't have the coupe project going on right now I'd finally be working on it again! All in due time. ;)

Keep your chin up, the interest will return!

Well, I had two people give me the thumbs up and one at a stop sign this morning tell me what a nice car I have.

I know the body is a pos, and that it needs lots of work, but it seems more worth it when things like this happens.

So, the paint will likely get stripped sand any rust I find will be put in check or replaced, keeping it running the entire time so I can still drive it.

Next year the interior, we should have more money by then...With the new job and all.

SWMBO agreed to cut some money loose this year...It will be very little, but likely enough to get it stripped.

My point is keep your chin up and get it running so you can drive it while you are doing the other project. You will be glad you did. I even seem to have the drive to get the 67 out and start some work on it too.

At least I am not alone in this. I have been working on it pretty steady for 7 years this next weekend. I guess I need a bit of a break from it. Time to get the engine in, drive it a little and start another project. Thanks for the pat on the back and letting me know I am not alone in my thoughts about the car.

If it makes you feel any better I am PO'd in a serious way at the TA this evening.

The passenger power window was fixed and working. I put it up and down a few times this evening to test it before I put the door panel back on.

Bleeping thing went up and down a few times then went down and stopped working again. The silver lining is it crapped out on me again before I put the door panel back on...I would've been super PO'd if it stopped working again immediately after putting the panel back on.

Very frustrating and not sure what it's deal is this time. About to get mad at it and take it to my buddy's shop for a second set of eyes...like "here's the keys, call me when it's ready", LOL!

It is the same way with my 07, just get in and go fast.
I had my Dad's vert here for 2 months. It was definitely fun to drive, but I was too paranoid to leave it parked anywhere for more than a few minutes. It must be different here in California because I only got a few "thumbs up" while driving it. Maybe if it was RED or some other flashy color, but it is the color of dirt, thus the name Prairie Bronze.
But as for my 67 coupe, I my not have the motivation to work on it, but I will never sell. It is inside my garage covered up unlike a couple of 69 sportsroofs in my area sitting outside rotting away.
