Ignition wire on slenoid and MSD

Do I still have to use the ignition wire connected to the solenoid on the "I" post if I am running the MSD 6AL?

My memory ain't with shart, but IIRC, yes. Hopefully someone else will chime in that can check.

A simple test will answer your question.
Does it lose power to the +side of the coil with the key in the start position? Yes, then the brown I wire is needed.
No, then the brown wire from the I post is not nessessary.

No.

That wire only supplies 12 volts to the ignition circuit when the starter solenoid is engaged.

Are you tapping into the factory ignition circuit near the coil?

The MSD box is going to be looking for +B and Ignition on power. I would wire it per MSD instructions. The factory resistor wire and the I circuit won't be necessary.

Kinda narrowing it down to Rebel 22 circuit or Kwik wire 21 circuit. I plan on running the wires outside the engine compartment to get a clean look. Also want to use some relay for fans, headlights, ac, and other items. Also upgraded to the 3g alt. and battery in the truck so I can fit a cold air box in the old battery location.
I think I saw here on Stang Fix a post of an orange mustang that someone rewired and covered the wiring with pex braiding, has anyone seen that post here?
