Hood hinges

Got my hood hinges cleaned (removed rust) now what do I do, I want them to look original but I do not want to replace them (cost). I am OK with how they look now but how do I keep them from rusting again? If I paint them how do you keep paint on the spring?

I phosphate and oiled my hinges (concours correct for 64.5-67?). Get OxySolv from Eastwood, soak your hinges completely in them for about 1-2 hours, then wash completely with water, dry, and rub machine oil on everything. This is the poor-man's phosphate/oil solution.

As long as you keep your hinges free of water, they will look nice for several years.

I painted my springs and hinges with cast-blast because it was handy and they still look good after a few years. No issue with the paint coming off the springs either (yet).
