Help with a steering problem

I replaced all the steering stuff way back on the '66. I took swmbo to town last week end and something has started rattling on the drivers side and it was also pulling to the left quite a bit. I got around to jacking up that side today and pulling on everything and nothing moves. Tried the wheel up and down and side to side and everything is good and tight. Checked the tire pressures and they were all right on. I checked the new exhaust and it is all good and tight. I haven't run over any curbs...well at least not lately. Anything else I could check tomorrow and get back to ya'll with? The rattling doesn't bother me as much as the pulling to the left with the rattling. One thing I forgot to check was the strut rods (replaced the rubber a couple of years ago). Could I see if one of them was cracked or such? Damn curse of Midlife is after me...again. :rant Thanks, Gary.

Do you have disc or drum? Did you pull the tire to see if anything is amiss with the caliper/pads/disc?

Check the idler arm bushings and the pitman arm bushings. Put the car up on a lift and check all of the suspension bits. Could be as simple as the idle arm bolts becoming loose.

I would check the brakes if you have discs up front. The same thing happen to me a few years ago. Kept getting a clunking and rattling along with a slight pull to one side. Turned out one of the front pads had broken loose .

Well, that could have been bad! I put it on the ramps this afternoon to be better able to check the steering stuff first. Everything looked great. I have a roller idler arm and it was fine. Damn, I do not want to pull the front wheels off to check the brakes as these Craiger SS are a pain in the arse to reinstall. One last thing to check is the upper control arm nuts. Dang! The drivers side (been pulling to the left remember) nut in the front was about half way off. The back one was a little bit loose. I used blue locktite when I installed these so this would not happen. The front one was actually about 1/2" out from the wall so that was a lot. I used some more locktite and spent the better part of 15 minutes tightening that down with a wrench/cheater bar. Of course the ceramic coated headers are right in the way as is the oil filter so I removed the filter to get some access. That necessitated a trip to the parts store for oil/filter to change. I'll take it for a ride in the morning to see if the Mustang Gods will be pleased with my efforts. :rr I also need to check if I lost any shims as the above person mentioned. :thum
