I know this probably gets asked a million times, But I need some suggestions.

I am shopping and looking for a set of headers.

70 mustang convertible, AT, PS. engine is being swapped to an 88 EFI 5.0 With AOD, so I will need to add O2 sensors too. Trying to keep the budget reasonable.

Thanks
Pat

I would like to know this too, not to hyjack this thread but which long tubes have the best fit with PS without that bracket?

Which bracket?

I know Hooker Comps fir with AC and PS on my 69 with a windsor in it. The is also plenty of room for a stck z-bar if you are running a standard trans.

I just happen to be sitting right next to it I will take some pictures.
I converted into manual steering there was no interference with power steering parts in place.

Powersteering bracket for long tubes

I'm assuming the one for the ram that bolts to the left frame rail. Mine was in the factory location. No drop bracket needed.

My JBA H pipe had O2 bungs welded onto it already. They are capped for now.

For now? Thinking of switching to EFI sometime in the future?

I've always understood that the O2 sensors should be as close to the collector as possible. While convenient, I'm not sure if the "H" pipe location is the best spot for the sensors.

They were already there when I bought the H pipe. When they dyno tuned the car they were glad as they were able to use them for the dyno sensor. I have no immediate plans for EFI, but I wouldnt rule out a nice set of webers sitting on top of motor....

I just took off a set of Headman long tube headers that are coated (1 coat inside and two coats on the outside) and have the O2 bungs welded in. I had them coated after the bungs were welded. They have 2000 miles on them but have a couple scratches on the bottom from a speed bump. They should be fine on most cars but I have lowering motor mounts and the car is pretty low as well. I just swapped over to JBA shorty headers. PM if you are interested

So it looks like I need to go with shorty headers with the AOD.
I emailed tech support at a couple places and they all seem to say long tubes won't work wit the AOD.

Actually I was just reading your post about sanderson. Gonna check out their site next.

I still have the set of new shorties....FF3GTS, SEC that will not fit my application. Have to return them to the original owner, Wonder if they would fit your needs......

I just emailed them. their website says those are for gt 40 heads 64 to 68 .

I know.....they told me they would fit mine with the 351 heads.....no go because of the issue with the lower shock tower. Yours should be ok....also, they don't mind exchanging them for a set that would work. These are priced good too.....

Doesn't the GT40 heads have a different plug angle than our stock heads? That may affect the header fitment, but am not 100% sure.
