Fully charged battery - How many volts?

Whats considered fully charged? I checked my battery with multimeter and it read 12.37v. That's considered low right?

Yes. Fully charged and everything turned off it should read 12.8-12.9V. With it being charged, it should read something like 14.5-14.8V.

Kat you got your 12v reading with the car off right (Just wanting to make sure)? If so, I'd have to disagree somewhat with Randy on this one, and wouldn't call the battery low (or maybe I'm just reading his reply wrong). I would agree with the voltage upper 12v listing he posted, for a 100% fully charged battery. At about 1/2 volt lower than that (which is about what you say you got), the battery is normal.

A 14v reading is what you would read at the battery with the engine running and the charging system functioning properly. If the car is spinning over fine (which is what it sounds like in some of your other posts), the battery and starter system are fine. Your problem lies elsewhere.

At 2.1V per cell x 6 cells, ideal charge should be 12.6V. 12.37V is a bit low, but not low enough to cause alarm. I'd bring it into a parts store to have it checked. Most parts stores have capacitive battery testers that are much more accurate than anything you have at home.

When you say you couldn't get your car started, exactly what were the symptoms? Answering that will help figure the problem out.

Did the car crank over normal and sound normal while you were cranking it? Was it cranking, but it sounded like it was cranking slower than normal, or cranked just 1 or 2 revolutions of the motor and stopped? When you turned the key to the start position did you get a "click" type noise but nothing else happened? Did you turn the key to the start position and get no "click" noise, or any other response at all?

She posted a video somewhere recently. It cranks fine. Her issue is one of timing or fuel or both. There is also some suspicion she might have electrical problems in the ignition circuit as well. Multiple (new)solenoids have failed (stuck) almost immediately.

I know it's more than a battery issue.

I asked about the battery because the guy I have coming over wanted the battery to be fully charged before he touches anything. I had o'reillys test it (was at 62%) and charge it. Just got it back a little bit ago.
