Friend of mine snapped this picture while riding in the B-25 that's stationed at the Camarillo Confederate Air Force facility. This is Fifi. The only flight worthy B-29 on the planet.

Fifi will be at Camarillo Airport through Monday, March 9.

Too cool. Would love to get the opportunity to hitch a ride in such aircraft. I can only imagine the history that one feels.

I've got some more pictures of the other aircraft at Camarillo airport that were in the escort of Fifi she arrived. I'll post them later today. Pics include a Bearcat, Hellcat and I believe a Supermarine Mk XIV Spitfire.

The Zero that's stationed there was notably absent.....

I landed at Cam a couple times and once when my father and I were walking away from the plane a Spitfire buzzed the field. Dad really enjoyed it since he was in the RAF.

I had a very cool styrofoam, rubberband powered Spitfire model plane when I was a kid. It was the greatest thing ever. Flew the crap out of it until my big brother knocked it out of the sky with a rock. I think because of that the Spitfire was my favorite of all WWII planes. A close second was the Corsair. Baa Baa Black Sheep was a big influence.

So , your english roots are fresh or did your father volunteer in the RAF??

I was driving home from college back in the day across Illinois, it was the week after EAA Oshkosh fly-in, and there down low on the horizon was a B-29. Yep Fifi. Have no idea why they would be flying that low.

Saw her last year in la. Cool pic. Doc is almost ready to take to the air to be the second 29

I just did a search on Doc. Nice to see they are very close to having her back in the air and someone to join Fifi from time to time. That will be a sight to see - two B-29s flying together!
