Drip Rail molding help

Just crapo! On the '66, the drivers side drip rail molding, the very back end (over the quarter window to the end of the rail) of about one foot will not stay clamped on anymore. I think someone grabbed it, when we were out somewhere awhile back, and snatched on it. I have snapped it back on several times and it would come back off. Now it won't stay on at all anymore...just sh*t. I wonder if I need to clamp down the lip a little more with some pliers and a rag (for protection) for it to "grab" the drip rail better. Anyone ever try this? The only other thing I can think of is to epoxy it on with some clear epoxy or such. It wouldn't be seen under the rail on the clip side. Thanks, Gary.

If I were you I would crimp it better... just put paint sticks on either side to protect from marring the finish and help spread the load some. It might be better to use channel locks versus standard pliers where the angle of the jaws would apply pressure more towards the inside of the molding so to not disturb the visible edge so much... (if that makes sense)...

That is sort of what I was thinking, that the inner edge is just not clamping (snapping) on the lip anymore. I would like to catch the jackass that pulled on that and bent it. I would put a bend in his arse with my #11 boot! :rant

Thanks, this confirms what I was thinking. If there is one thing I do not like fooling with on these cars, it is most definitely the damn molding.

Ahhh, the molding is staying on now. Thanks, maybe the curse of Midlife is now lifted! :char

Bwahahahahahaha! Ask DodgeStang if his curse was ever lifted...

Good deal with your molding. That's one piece I've never taken off...
