Does anyone have shackle bushings not installed?

If you happen to have a set of rear leaf spring shackle bushings that aren't installed on the car, could you measure and give me the diameter of these bushings (inner portion that slides into leaf)? In a week or two I'll be making a thread about building my own Ron Morris style motor mounts. I plan on posting my template dimensions so anyone can make a set, if I am successful in getting mine to work :scar . I don't like the harshness of the poly mounts that are used with the RM mounts and plan on finding a rubber bushing that can be used instead, and shackle bushings seem like they may fit the bill. I'm also considering lower control arm bushings, but the shackle bushings would be easier and cheaper. Let me know if you have a bushing to measure!

I'm currently in the mock-up phase and need to choose a tube size, so hopefully one can be found that the shackle bushings would fit in tightly.

Via help on the VMF, the bushing measures 1.375". I'm looking for the front leaf bushing diameter if anyone has one of those :kaid

I have a front leaf out right now. I can look for my calipers ( not sure where ) or do a good tape measure. Obviously I will look for the calipers.

Leaf spring front shackle bushings....

Just so that you're aware, when using the Cal-Tracs traction bars the leaf spring front rubber bushings are removed and replaced with a solid aluminum bushing. This aluminum bushing reduces friction and allows the pivot device on the Cal-Trac's system to pivot thus transferring pressure onto the top of the leaf pack to reduce/eliminate wheel hop and provide superb traction. There is NO noticable difference in ride quality between the original and solid aluminum bushings that I could feel.

What I'm gettng at..... have you thought of using an aluminum bushing?

When we installed the Cal-Trac's bars onto my son's car I had the new ruber bushings pressed out of the springs and I have them in the shop....somewhere.... I'll keep my eyes out for them to get your measurement.

I am in the middle of replacing my leafs. I have all of the half rubber bushing pieces in the plastic bags. . Could these be of help to you?

Yeah, shoot me the diameter of the inner portion of the front leaf spring bushing. Thanks1

If Mark doesn't get to it before I get home today, I have the springs with the bushings pressed in and a caliper. I'll get the ID, which I should be able to do even if the bushing is in the spring. If you need the OD, I can't help.

I have not forgotten. I organized all of my tools and went through half of the garage looking for my calipers. I will hold on to the springs until I find the calipers. I am sure to find them tomorrow. K
