Dang shows.....

Decided to go to local park to watch the fireworks since we have not watched them for a while. Didn't want the wife to have to walk to far so we chose to go to the display that had a car show also. That way, we could park right up front and no walking involved. Didn't really care about the show but did have a good time. Didn't even take a camera. Just before the fireworks, they gave out the trophies which we were not even listening to. I have gotten tired of all the BS in the awards areas but do enjoy talking with others as they look the cars over.

They had Mayors choice, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and about 15 or so peoples choice awards. There was around 40 cars is all. Well, the new '66 got a peoples choice so now I guess I will have to knock the road grime off it for a while. All I did was hose it off and drive it.

OK, that's just funny as hell. I couldn't tell you how many shows that car has been in, here on the left coast. It won 2 awards out of all of them. One was because it was part of the Sacramento Area Mustang Club's display at Autorama and everyone in the display got a "Participant" trophy.

The other was at te SAMC's annual show, of which I was the chairman that year. It won a second place in the '65/'66 Modified class. It didn't really deserve it, because there were some REALLY nice cars in that group. I always felt it was more of a "thanks for the hard work on the show" kind of award, which I never really quite felt comfortable with (I hate when "good ol' boy awards" are handed out!).

Now Scary, on the other hand has got quite an area staked out on the garage wall for the awards she has won. *LOL*

Anyway, congrats ... I should send you the other two that I have to add to your trophy case.

Most of the shows around here have crappy judging or are of the type of everybody gets one cuz you showed up. This one had 15 peoples choice awards. I always thought peoples choice was a one per show.....the car the ones that came to see the show voted as most liked, not all who were close to the most liked.

The judged shows so often end up as problems because of the attitude of having to win and so many people complain royally if they don't win.

The ballots for peoples choice awards last night were given out with no control. Linda and I did not even bother voting. I will say that all 6 or 7 in our Mustang club won one.

I thought it was funny that I have not really done anything other than hose the car off. It was the only classic Mustang there too. Anyway, enough on the car show awards.

Yep, typical guy that has deep pockets, buys a car and then raids the show circuit :eek:mg Screws it up for the rest of us that "build" our own cars.

:ecit

Congrats Pete!

If that was the case then Mayors Choice would have been a Mustang, not a '70 Montego Vert owned by a local speed shop.

......and, the only reason the pockets seem deep is because of all the stretching the kids and grandkids do when digging for that last penny.....lol

Congrates Pete!
I used to complain that I never win anything, but then there was that Pioneer thing... anyway, very cool award and congrates on your new ride!

So now wait just a minute, did I miss the post about about the '66 arriving safely? Pics of what it looked like after the trip from Sac to Florida. Oh well congrats on the award.

Now Pete you need to 'earn' those other trophies that John has already in that car. Two speeding tickets from one cop. :lol

Its how John got his Where's Waldo persona. Seems the local cops on his way to work were always citing him....in YOUR car. :lol

The two bogus speeding tickets in the same mile by the same cop actually happened in the 4-Runner. The first was him trying to nail me for a DUI, as it was 2:00 am on Sunday morning as I had to drive into my office. The second one was because I pissed him off, when I almost ran over his toes.

I've been pulled over several times in the '66 (Once for "perceiving to go too fast"), but only one ticket in it for doing 50 in a 40.
