The mods you have in mind are all useful. A bit of advice though. If you add anything to the side (notably the side of your welder that has the lid for wire access), make sure your addition(s) are low enough to allow the door to open easily. I bought a cart from Harbor Freight (the same one Eastwood offers), because I found it on sale. I was going to build one and have done so in the past (it wasn't my machine though). I found that the hooks on the door side of the cart I bought were just high enough to catch on the bottom of the door when you opened it. I solved this by bending them down slightly, but it was a valuable lesson learned! BTW, on the cart I built I had placed the hooks for the gun and ground cable on the side of each front support leg where they wouldn't interfere with anything on the machine.
BTW, if my cart is a typical example, I've accumulated a bunch of stuff on my cart. Notably a bunch of locking and "C" clamps. A simple rack somewhere to hang them off of is pretty useful. Somewhere to store your gloves and a hook for your helmet are also useful additions.
