clutch pedal project

with the 69-70 clutch pedals being hard to find & expensive, i tried to beg/ borrow/rent one to use as a pattern to make one for my t-5 swap. ended up finding one for $50, but decided to see how difficult it would be to make one anyway. i still have to fab up the pedal stop/ return spring mount & weld in the 5/8" shaft, but it's coming together pretty well. whatcha think??

Dang....that's awesome. I wish I had even a portion of the talent it took to do that!!!

You'll have people lining up to get one.

I was wondering when you'd get around to that! Looking pretty nice. Bored enough to make a few more to sell? :craz

I think you are gonna be my new BFF.

I've had a wanted ad for one of those for a long time.

I you decide to produce it, let me know.

There is supposedly a repop out there for around 200.00 but i've yet to see one in a catalog.

I used to love making parts out of metal, that was when I was working for my uncles at their machine shop. That is your first step to your clutch/brake petals. Next you need to,if you have not already, do the roller bearing thing to the petal support (I think that it has a name, brain fart moment). I did it to my 67 awhile back before I got a digital camera. fd

Is it an optical illusion in the second pic, or is the pad offset from the pedal arm in the original and centered on your fabbed pedal?

I keep looking at the picture with the same thought....

thats more camera angle in that pic than anything. i did move the pad over just a hair towards center of the shaft, which will space it a tad further away from the brake pad. i also left it a little beefier up at the top where the actuator rod & mounting shaft go. figured it doesn't interfere & might make it a little stronger. things seem to be slowing down a tad in the shop to where i might have some spare time now & then to work on this stuff. i'll keep you posted.

Thanks! Not sure if you remember, but I was the one PMing you on the VMF about this pedal :ecit

Yeah it's better if the pad is further away from the brake pedal IMO. Good work on the fabwork!

yes, i remembered your name right away. i double checked those measurements & only moved the pad 1/8", so it was mainly camera angle.
