I am considering going to efi...again. Back story: When I Rebuilt the '90 5.0 HO and the AOD tranny and installed them into the '66 stang, I used the efi stuff from a '90 Lincoln MK7. It was sd not mass air. Ran the new fuel/return line/electric fuel pump. Got everything hooked in, welded in the bungs for the o2 sensers and put the 5.0 distributor in and went to fire it up...wtf. Nothing! I went through the wiring several times all hook ups had juice to computer etc...nada. Pissed off at that point and wanted to drive the new engine/tranny so I pulled the efi stuff off and put the old dist. back in and put a fuel regulator for the carb on and put the 4 barrel intake/edelbrock 600 on and whoopie...runs like a scalded dog. It's been 5 or 6 years at least and i am getting the itch to do the efi again. No problems with the carb setup and I really like the hei dist. that was added (never use petronixcrap ever again) The problem with the efi swap was: drum roll please :sarc It had been about 6 months with the engine/tranny/wiring etc install and I had completely forgot that I had a KILL switch under the D*mn dash!!! :char
Oh, idiot of idiots!!! :bomb Of course I already had the carb etc back on and ready to fire up when I discovered this little gem. I have no problem with the way the car runs like it is, would like a little more mpg for sure but keeping the foot out of the pedal will do that. I think the real problem is that I cannot stand to leave something "not finished". I do not defeat easily and I suspect that all of the real car guys that build their own cars etc are this way. It just scalds my arse that I did not "complete" the mission. So what say the collective wisdom of the blessed StangFix??????? I can go to the pullapart and get the wiring harness and and I already have the new sensors /egr delete/computer/intake/efi distributor and everything to do this but the wiring harness. Is it really worth it at this point? Thanks.
