Can you "repair" horns? (Sparks but not HONK!)

Okay, so I have my latest 66 daily driver Mustang and horn does not work... I start the trouble shooting process knowing directionals work so good sign of power to steering wheel and start but using power probe from battery direct to horn terminal; get sparks at both terminals but no sound.

Forum question: At $24.95 for each high/low pitch is there a way to repair these maybe just hit hard with a rubber mallet ;). Well at least this is not like my Harley Davidson (HD meaning hundred dollars for anything big or small)

I have gotten some to work by soaking the insides with lots of WD40 for a couple days and playing with the adjustment screws. The mallet idea helped mine too. Just be sure the adjustment screws go back to the original position as they change the tone....

I tried the screws and nothing happened... Can't say i returned to the original position. Maybe I will buy one horn and see what happens next. Will also try the WD40

Oh I can't believe I did not realize that I cannot use my power probe to complete a circuit... Dummy! I got my new $50 horns today installed and nothing; used my probe to test got <spark> but no sound; took a scrap wire to connect versus power probe and HONK! So of course I tested and the old horns work... Expensive lesson learned as Virginia Mustang does not allow electrical part returns. Posted for all to learn from my mistake (albeit no one else would make the same).

So now I am back to figuring out why signals work but horn does not. Was told if signals work good indication power is at the steering wheel. So is that true?

Have band new horns now sitting in boxes might as well install at least they look better than originals ($$$ cosmetic upgrade). :(

So let me get this straight since the signals work does that indicate horn has power within steering wheel? I used a probe on all contact points up top and get nothing. Should I see wires somewhere can someone please snap a photo of where to test power or see wires.

All the wires to the steering column go thru a 6? pin plug just under ths dash. The wire harness comes out of a slot in the column. Power for the horns is separate and is easy to follow as I mentioned above. Find the plug and it will help you out.
